Highlights of 2006

Friday, January 5th, 2007

Dang! I apologize for my late blog post! Already 2007 is killing me. LOL I have a deadline that’s been slowly eating me alive for the past few weeks.

2006. A great year. A lot of wonderful things happened to me in 2006. My first print book, Hell Kat came out from Kensington Aphrodisia. It’s sequel, Inferno, also came out in December, and it’s getting rave reviews. I couldn’t be happier about that.

2006 was also the year that I got a book deal with Silhouette Nocturne, which has headed me down a slightly different path. And I couldn’t be more thrilled with that.

2006 saw alot of good friends land book contracts for the first time and I’m so thrilled for them as well.

2006 also for me was a great year for books. I read A LOT of great books this past year. I found three new to me authors that I can’t seem to get enough of. I wish they would write faster!! LOL

Some highlight books for me in 2006 in no particular order:

Moon Called - Patricia Briggs
Watchers in the Night - Jenna Black
Rogue Angel series - Alex Archer
Weather Warden Series - Rachel Caine
A Fistful of Charms - Kim Harrison
Crimson City series - various authors
Working for the Devil - Lilith Saintcrow
Dead Man Rising - Lilith Saintcrow
A Hunger Like No Other - Kresley Cole
Wolf at the Door - Christine Warren
Lover Eternal - JR Ward
Awaken Me Darkly - Gena Showalter
Jewel of Atlantis - Gena Showalter
Warprize - Elizabeth Vaughn
The Turning - Jennifer Armintrout

There are more, but for me those stood out in my mind as superior products. I love to read so to find so many wonderful stories is a blessing. And I can’t wait for more wonderful stories in 2007.

In fact, I’ve already started my TBR pile!!

What were your 2006 reading highlights?

Seriously Serial

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

I love a good series. When I find a great character in an amazing world there’s nothing better than knowing that I can visit them again and again. I get a giddy feeling inside when I find a brand new series to sink my teeth into.

Now for me, a series has to have three things for me to really engage.

1. a great main character - I perfer mine, kick-butt, flawed and tough as nails
2. a rich detailed world - I perfer paranormal worlds where nothing is what it seems
3. lots of action, action, action

Here are some series that I LOVE.

Rachel Caine’s Weather Warden series - reason: Love the main characters Joanne and David, love the world where Dijinns exist
Kim Harrison’s The Hollows series - reason: Love the main characters Rachel, and Jinx, love the hijinks they get into
JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood - reason: love the Brothers! love the Brothers! Zsadist is my boy!
Lillith Saintcrow’s Dante Valentine’s series - reason: Love Dante, and the demon world
Crimson City series - reason: love the world created

I bring up series, because my book INFERNO is coming out at the end of November. And it is the sequel to Hell Kat. Now, I’ve already had readers who got ARC’s email me and ask if there will be more stories. And now that I’m thinking about it…I’d love to write another story or two set in this world. I love the characters, especially the new one I introduce in Inferno. His name is Onyx. And I’m thinking he needs a story of his own….

Inferno

Why do you likes book series? Or maybe you don’t. Tell me either way.

Oh, and do you have any recommendations for me? I’m always on the look out for something else to devour.

Ultimate Love Stories

Monday, October 16th, 2006

*******winners of copies of HELL KAT are…Pat L and Ali! Ladies please email me at vivaciousvivianna@yahoo.ca to claim your prize!!! Thanks to everyone for posting*********

Yeah! This is my first post here at the Access Romance blog. I’m very excited to be part of this very cool community. It’s like getting to play on the playground with all the cool kids!

I’ve recently realized something about myself. And it’s almost painful to admit as I have a fairly rough and tumble reputation. But I can’t hold it in any longer…

I’m in love with LOVE.

That’s right. This author who prefers to write about kick-butt heroines and the dark delicious men to kill for is truly underneath it all…a romantic.

I came to this realization recently after I watched The Lake House. I adored this movie. And I cried like a wee baby. If you haven’t seen this film go out and rent it. I know for some of you you haven’t because Keanu is in it. Well, I have to say I love me some Keanu so this was not a hardship for me. But he is very good in it. And the chemistry between him and Sandra Bullock is electric.

The story goes like this: A lonely doctor (Bullock) who once occupied an unusual lakeside home begins exchanging love letters with its newest resident, a frustrated architect (Reeves). The problem is they live two years apart in time. They must try to unravel the mystery behind their extraordinary romance before it’s too late.

It’s a fabulous story and it made me believe in true love. That it is worth everything to have.

I love stories like these.

What have you seen or read that made you feel that way? That tore out your heart and made you believe that love was worth everything?

Because I’m feeling so lovey…I’m going to give away a couple copies of HELL KAT, my erotic/futuristic. The sequel INFERNO is coming out next month. So post a comment and get your name in a hat for two chances to win Hell Kat.
