Hawaii as a setting

I just finished writing a novella for the 2009 COPS Anthology for Kensington. Boy it went fast! I started last Monday and finished yesterday! Woohooo! I chose for my setting Honolulu, Hawaii on the island of Oahu since I had the good fortune to visit there during June of this year. Wow! What fun! It’s a thriving city full of excitement, night life and Waikiki Beach in the downtown area. With the view of the Pacific Ocean and the rocky peak of Diamond Head, you can’t beat the location. I’m ready totally ready to go back and explore the other islands of Hawaii. We had a week there and drove all over visiting Dole pineapple plantation visitor center, the Polynesian Cultural Center, Pearl Harbor and the filming locations of such movies as Jurassic Park, Pearl Harbor and 50 First Dates. I loved the lush windward side of Oahu as much as the action-packed Waikiki side.

As a setting for a cop story, it was perfect. A city teeming with life, surfers, homeless and tons of tourists is bound to have some crime. In comes my sexy Hawaiian cop to the rescue. Broad shoulders, dark skin, black hair and brown-black eyes. Yeah, man!

Have you ever been to Hawaii? Is it in your bucket list? If not, it should be! Loved, loved, loved it!

I have never been to Hawii but it is on my bucket list. I have known people that have taken a Hawii cruise and loved it. I only heard of one person saying that they would have rather just stayed on one island.

I love Hawaii. My husband and I were married on Maui seven years ago. Went to Oahu in ‘02 and desperately want to go back! Someday…

This is why I like to read books set in Hawaii. Makes me feel like I’m there.
