Oh, I’m not the one making recommendations. My daughter tells me I have the lousiest taste in movies ever. So, I want to impress her by picking up tips from you. I’ll borrow your good taste.

My taste runs to action adventure, horror (suspenseful vs. slice ‘n’ dice), and sci-fi. My latest purchases include 28 Days Later and Sunshine, both starring the fabulously androgenous Cillian Murphy. She loved the zombie flick but fell asleep during the sci-fi one. She crossed her eyes and made gagging noises during Secretary, which I purchased for some BDSM research (besides who can resist James Spader when he’s being very, very nasty!). Keep in mind my daughter’s an adult, so I’m not corrupting a minor.

The movies I tend to TIVO from the Sci-Fi channel usually star Bruce Campbell or feature zombies, aliens, or bloodsuckers from another planet, and she always wails, “Mom, can’t you ever watch something normal?” This from a girl who made me take her teenaged friends to the Marilyn Manson concert because all their parents wouldn’t allow them to go without parental supervision never thinking a parent would actually do it. She was mortified when I spent the night in the mosh pit, but hey, isn’t that where you’re supposed to be to get the full concert experience?!

I’d say keep my preferences in mind when you make your suggestions, but then I’d be defeating the purpose of this exercise. I want her to be thrilled.
