Do you like it hot?

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Rumors that erotica is dead have been floating around for a while now. And they’re even stronger now that the RWA National Conference has ended. Urban Fantasy is in, Erotica is out. To mangle what Greenday once said “Erotica is only dead to those who never got it in the first place.”

Erotica has been around for decades, and it will remain. The last few years there has been a flood of erotic fiction into bookstores, and yes, that flood is sure to turn into a river, and maybe even a stream. But it will be a steady stream of quality erotic fiction. Because no matter what anyone says, publishers don’t determine the market, READERS DO. And it’s been proven that there are plenty of readers who like it hot.

As an author who loves to write erotic fiction, I’m going to do my best to stick around. I’ll be pimping and promoting my books, and trying to make you all so hot and bothered and intrigued that you’ll rush out to a store and pick up every one of my books. (Including MY PREROGATIVE, which release on Sept 2 nd *grin* )

Your job as a reader who likes reading erotic fiction, is simple. Keep reading, keep buying, and keep talking. Talk to each other, because word of mouth can keep an authors career alive. Talk to us, because fan-mail can keep an author sane and inspired. And in an effort to encourage you to keep reading… I’ve got a copy of TROUBLE to give away!
Tell me in the comments what YOU think about the rumor that erotic fiction is dieing in the comments to be entered to win. I’ll draw the winners name on Friday and announce here on Sat.

WINNER: FEDORA, your name was picked to win a copy of TROUBLE. PLease email me (sasha @ sashawhite.net) by Wednesday August 3rd to collect your prize.
