  1. I think a cool feature would be book trailers. I’ve been seeing a lot of them lately and they’re pretty good - fun and innovative. With the explosion of Youtube on the internet, I think this is probably the wave of the future to sell just about anything. People these days are very visual and book trailers can convey in just a few frames what blurbs cannot (in my opinion), not that there’s anything wrong with blurbs. So it would be neat if you had your own “youtube” center here to showcase booktrailers, web casts, whatever visual media an author can come up with to promote their books.

  2. I personally love the classes that you offer and I would love to see more offered. I write contemporary romance and I would love to see classes that work more with that genre.

by Patty L. on August 1st, 2008 at 8:23 am

  3. I love your website. You have so much that I love to read. The only thing I can think of that might be of interest to readers is a section where authors talk about works in progress.

by Crystal B. on August 1st, 2008 at 9:31 am

  4. I like the idea of the book trailers. And I’d love see video blog entries, like the ones Megan Hart and Lauren Dane do on their blog(s). They are entertaining and amusing!

    by Angie-la on August 1st, 2008 at 9:55 am

  5. I like the way you have it laid out and hope that you keep the blogging and comments as easy as it is now. Any new upcoming info would be nice too. :)

by Dina on August 1st, 2008 at 9:58 am

  6. I’d like to see more podcasts. I need listening material for my iPod to help pass the day at work and I’ve already gone through the small selection you have.

by Jennifer K. on August 1st, 2008 at 10:51 am

  7. Hmm, well, the easiest thing for me to do is probably put what it is that I use a lot. :) I’m here on the blog daily. . . love newsletters of authors. . . yep, look for contests. . . and always love easy to use upcoming lists. So I don’t really have a list of anything I’d like to see or to change, just a list of please keep stuff! LOL :)

  8. I think your website is great as well. I’d like to see some short writing contests to inspire some of us would be writers. I think book trailers would be a good idea as well.

by Sandra M on August 1st, 2008 at 11:41 am

  9. Podcasts, book trailers, and more “behind the scenes” sort of things from my favorite authors would be great! Love AR!

by Wendy on August 1st, 2008 at 11:52 am

  10. I really don’t have much to add. The responders before me have already mentioned most of the things I’d like to keep, such as the blog, contest, and bookshelf, as well as things like more classes that I’d like to see. I really like Sandra’s idea of possibly having contests for would be writers. I’d also be interested in more podcasts like Wendy mentioned.

by Karin on August 1st, 2008 at 1:26 pm

  11. Thank you to everyone who has commented so far! Trailers is a feature that we’re most definitely adding with these changes, although we haven’t ironed out the details of how to best display them.

Whether we hold any more classes will depend on our authors’ interest in teaching them, but that’s definitely a service we’d love to continue to offer if we can!

Jennifer, that’s great that you’ve listened to the podcasts! We have one upcoming this month from Susan Mallery. If we continue to do them will depend on our authors’ interest. We’d love to keep doing them because we know how much fun it is to hear your favorite authors’ voices!

Contests for aspiring authors is a good idea, and we’ll have to consider the logistics of it to see if it’s something we can pull together. That would certainly be fun, if we could do it!

by Administrator on August 1st, 2008 at 1:51 pm

  12. Writing contests, please - especially if the prizes are crits from established authors.

by Rachel Green on August 1st, 2008 at 2:32 pm

  13. Like the website, my only suggestion is to list the monthly author contests all on the website author contest page. Sometimes I forget to check individual websites.

by Cathy M on August 1st, 2008 at 2:57 pm

  14. book trailers is nice, more contest . guest author gab, more authors would be great. all else is great. thanks

by kim h on August 1st, 2008 at 3:11 pm

  15. I agree with all of the above.

by Estella on August 1st, 2008 at 3:48 pm

  16. I like the Bookshelf and Upcoming features. I also agree that book trailers would be an awesome addition.

by Jane on August 1st, 2008 at 3:54 pm

  17. I would like to see questions and answers maybe with the Authors. Maybe a surprise contest in the blog itself.

by Joyce on August 1st, 2008 at 4:46 pm

  18. All the features on the website are great. I especially like the author section with it’s links to the various websites. The only criticism I have is that I don’t like the narrow field or border. I’d rather see a more desktop type of background. Other than that, it is a fantastic website.

by Betty Breithaupt on August 1st, 2008 at 4:51 pm

  19. I really don’t have anything to add though I did like the suggestion of the indivual contest listed with the main contests.

    Maybe more guest bloggers?

by Judy F on August 1st, 2008 at 5:21 pm

  20. This is one of the romance information sites I come to regularly. I like the reviews and the interviews. It is easy to read, colorful and worthy to spend a bit of timr perusing. The only thing I can suggest is to feature more authors.

by JOYE on August 1st, 2008 at 5:40 pm

  21. Change the design of the home page of the website, the font size of the print, and the colors. I personally don’t think the site looks up-to-date and smart. I would like to see an article section on craft of writing.
    Ruby

by Ruby on August 1st, 2008 at 5:40 pm

  22. I like the idea of book trailers, too. And agree with the re-design suggestion, making the site more user friendly.

by Christina D. on August 1st, 2008 at 6:26 pm

  23. I have to say I also think the look is out-dated, maybe making it more modern would be nice!

I like the blog, but the authors should participate more, we post and few answer… I also always love blog contests… it can be books, but authors can always be creative!

by Nathalie on August 1st, 2008 at 7:12 pm

  24. I think more interviews with the authors. It would be nice to see more of what makes them tick and how they come up with their ideas for books and such.
I also think the colors are alittle outdated and could be changed to add pizzazz!!!

by Vicki H on August 1st, 2008 at 7:28 pm

  25. All of the above features sound wonderful. I enjoy going to the Access Romance site .

by Emma on August 1st, 2008 at 7:31 pm

  26. I agree with all of the above. Especially interested in the book “trailers.” I’ve seen a few and as a very visual person - - they add to the excitement of a book.

by Susan Scheelk on August 1st, 2008 at 7:40 pm

  27. I like hearing about upcoming books by both authors and new authors.

by Joyce on August 1st, 2008 at 7:49 pm

  28. I would love for their to be chats so I can talk to the Access Romance authors about their books and their coming soon books so I can put them on my wishlist.

by Amy S. on August 1st, 2008 at 8:14 pm

  29. I would love to see more featured authors. I really love the previews of up and coming books. Also, it would be great to know if any of the authors have book signings in my area or online chats.

by Amy on August 1st, 2008 at 8:23 pm

  30. It’s a great site. My favorite is the blog where you get to interact with the various authors. Maybe letting the winners know at the top of the blog for any previous contests, sometimes the winners aren’t picked for a week or more and which makes it hard.

by catslady on August 1st, 2008 at 9:03 pm

  31. At the risk of copying a previous comment,I too would love to see more featured authors. I’d also like to have more up and coming books. I’d love to know when any authors are comeing to Cleveland for signings, they hardly ever do.

by Char on August 1st, 2008 at 9:42 pm

  32. I think book trailers would be excellant, also guest author bloggers and maybe some more reviews of featured books, perhaps an area where members could post reviews of their latest or favorite reads.

by Cheryl McInnis on August 1st, 2008 at 9:48 pm

  33. I think the book trailers would be cool. I’ve seen a few and they have really made me want to buy the books. They make the books really come alive and help envision the characters.

by leslie thompson on August 1st, 2008 at 10:19 pm

  34. Trailers would be cool. Another feature that might be interesting would be recommendations—if you like this author or genre, try out these books/authors. I’m always looking for new reads!

by Kimberly B. on August 1st, 2008 at 10:40 pm

  35. I love your website. It has a lot of interesting features and goodies for all types of readers. I especially love the Bookshelf and Upcoming as that is where I check for the books I wanted to buy. And I love the contests available. Only one point - I am not sure when I enter for the contests with prizes such as prined books or gifts that they accept international entries since it doesn’t seem to be stated in the contest page. As I am a reader outside the US, it would be great if the authors put a notice whether international entries are eligible or not. Otherwise, this is a great website I would gladly recommend to any readers! Keep up the good work!

by Tamsyn T. on August 1st, 2008 at 11:47 pm

  36. I love to see up and coming books and interviews with the authors  I think Access Romances is a awesome site

by Lori Barnes on August 2nd, 2008 at 12:36 am

  37. This is a good site, and I visit daily. Continue with blogs, author interviews, book reviews, and contests. I enjoy when an author blogs about her latest book and offers one as a prize to a commenter on the blog. Book trailers would be fun, too.

by cheryl c. on August 2nd, 2008 at 1:12 am

  38. I love the website as is as it is so easy to navigate. However it could use some more colorful colors and pictures as they catch a person’s attention. More information on new authors. I love finding out about authors I have not read before. I have found some great authors I wouldn’t have read had it not been for links on other websites.

by Jane Squirs on August 2nd, 2008 at 3:09 am

  39. I like your site the way it is. I check out the author pages and all the contests that you have going on. I don’t think you could do anything that would be bad to it though. Maybe a wider variety of authors, historical, erotic romance, contemporary, the list goes on and on. I hope you have a great day and good luck with the changes you decide to make.

  40. Great giveaway good luck everyone.

I love this site. I would love to see more interviews. Would be great to have trailers and chats. I love to chat with authors and other readers. Would be cool to also have a forum :)
How about a place for us readers to also post our links. So we can all link with each other.

  41. I enjoy this site and appreciate how easy it is to navigate. A section that has additional information on the author’s books like pictures of the settings and stories of the inspirations for the books would be great.

by Maureen on August 2nd, 2008 at 6:48 am

  42. I like you just the way you are!

I have dial up so I don’t enjoy the book trailers… they take to much time to load and many times they freeze in the loading process.

I would encourage the introduction of new authors and new books.

Love the contests! Books are getting expensive so a freebie is always appreciated!!

by Laurie G on August 2nd, 2008 at 7:56 am

  43. I like the idea of book trailers, but other than perhaps a revamp of the overall look (colors, page design & layout, etc), I think everything is fine.

I am a big fan of contests and enter several each month. Love the idea of winning books or bookstore GC…really helps on the book buying budget!

I like reading about new books out by established authors and I like the opportunity to read about debut authors and their works. Also links to authors websites is a big help too.

by Karen H in NC on August 2nd, 2008 at 8:51 am

  44. I love your website. I like the above ideas too. I’m also a big fan of contests and I enter a lot each month. I love to win books from my favorite authors and I especially love to try new authors. Please keep that up.

by Carolyn A. on August 2nd, 2008 at 9:17 am

  45. Overall the site is easy to navigate, has great contests, and lots of info. I think the colors and layout could use a change. It’s not bad, just a little plain.

I would also like to see the Bookshelf and New Book Spotlight indicate whether the book is a print, ebook, or available in both.

by Janet H on August 2nd, 2008 at 9:58 am

  46. I’d like to see the date of the blog right after the title instead of - or in addition to - at the end. It would make it easier to find a blog as I save the dates of those I want to return to. Love the contests!

by Karen B on August 2nd, 2008 at 10:27 am

  47. I wish that when an author has a contest that the winner would be posted on the front page so it could be seen without having to go back to each author’s site and check until the winner is announced. This isn’t a big complaint, lol, but thought it would be nice this way. Thanks.

by RobynL on August 2nd, 2008 at 12:26 pm

  48. I too would like to see a trailer page. Also, I think the winner of a contest should be posted on the All A-Blog page under the contest that was entered. It is difficult to have to go thru all of the comments of a contest to see who won. Thanks for this site and keep up the good work. Looking forward to the updates and revamping of this site.

by DeeAnn S on August 2nd, 2008 at 12:29 pm

  49. I am not sure if anyone else posted this as I haven’t had the chance to read all of the posts made, but I would like to see a message board/forum where everyone can gather at and talk and discuss various topics such as romance authors, favorite books, their own writing journey, etc. I also think more writing classes would be great too! Thanks for the wonderful contest!

by Lisa on August 2nd, 2008 at 12:32 pm

  50. Overall your site is already great. I think the idea of book trailers and upcoming books info would be nice to see. I hope you keep the site as easy to negotiate as it is now, as the biggest thing that puts me off other sites is trouble finding what I am looking for.

by Ilona on August 2nd, 2008 at 1:36 pm

  51. I do think that a message board/forum would be a good idea as well. I enjoyed following up with my favorites authors work in progress.

by Dionne B on August 2nd, 2008 at 1:40 pm

  52. Just wanted to pop in a say hi to everyone-loe reading everyones ideas-can’t thing of anything new and diffrent, but I do like all the ideas everyone else is posting.

by AMBER KUEHN on August 2nd, 2008 at 2:37 pm

  53. Excellent and informative website which has always been a delight to visit. Current updates and blogs are a nice feature which I appreciate. Love to see a modern look. Excellent coverage of information. Thanks.

by ellie on August 2nd, 2008 at 2:56 pm

  54. I’m probably repeating something from above, but could there be MORE readers blog posts? By plain’ol readers? *g* And maybe a book discussion section where one book is discussed every week or so?

by Brandy on August 2nd, 2008 at 4:11 pm

  55. Boy, I can agree that the site is already awesome. That is why I am here. I even like the colors, but have no real objection to a change. We are in the process of having our house repainted and the color is a drastic change. It is taking some getting used to! LOL
I agree that I like the contests. It is always so much fun to get something in your email besides spam and a package in your mail just brightens the day. I love to read and a surprise gift just adds to the thrill. But, all in all, I will just say: Keep up the good work!

by Gladys Paradowski on August 2nd, 2008 at 4:14 pm

  56. Haha oh my goodness. I could’ve been the first comment, which was very tempting, but I wanted to take some more time and browse the site. I like a lot of the features - and it’s hard to think of anything. I only have minor suggestions - that the “upcoming books” list maybe be a bit longer - I love the “bookshelf” page. Maybe for some of the other pages, to shorten the margins? There’s a lot of negative space on the right and left, and sometimes it makes things feel a bit cramped. [Or all the pages look like a blog]. That’s it though- love the site!

by limecello on August 2nd, 2008 at 4:53 pm

  57. I’m probably repeating something from above, but could there be MORE readers blog posts? By plain’ol readers? *g* And maybe a book discussion section where one book is discussed every week or so?

We do have a readers blog! Click Readers Gab on the sidebar!! All the columnists there are readers, not authors!

by Administrator on August 2nd, 2008 at 8:18 pm

  58. Visually, there needs to be more color and less wasted space along the right and left edges. Content-wise, more author interviews would be nice. A centralized location listing the winners of the blog contests would be great because sometimes the winners are listed weeks later and are forgotten or hard to find.

by Linda F on August 2nd, 2008 at 8:36 pm

  59. I don’t think I have all that much to add. Love the contests!

by Minna on August 3rd, 2008 at 8:15 am

  60. I love the website, it’s nice being able to go to one place and reaching all my favorite Authors. I can only think of one thing to change and that would be the colors. You’ve had the same ones since the beginning and a change in that way would be great.

by Dena on August 3rd, 2008 at 8:53 am

  61. I love your site - it is colorful, has nice features and contests - love hearing about the authors and their upcoming books.

I agree with the ladies - book trailers would be nice.

by Pat L on August 3rd, 2008 at 9:12 am

  62. This website is GREAT! So many authors and updates!
A “winner’s circle” could be added for readers to get to the list of contest winners quickly.

by Kathleen on August 3rd, 2008 at 10:40 am

  63. I love this site and as long as you keep things as fun and interesting as they are I will be happy… I enjoy how easy it is to get around the site to your many different sections!

by Colleen on August 3rd, 2008 at 12:59 pm

  64. I this site is already great. I really like the idea of adding trailers and chats.

by Susan on August 3rd, 2008 at 3:35 pm

  65. How about a way for reader’s to comment or rate books found on Access Romance. And a Reader’s Choice of the Month Award based on that. I don’t have the time to search for individual reviews and really would appreciate the recommendations of fellow readers. With so many books coming out every month I need a little help narrowing down the choices.

by Sue A. on August 3rd, 2008 at 4:48 pm

  66. I already like the site alot! But I agree with some of the others, that a color change would be nice. I would like to see more books trailers, contest, and maybe a page where some of your authors recommend books they like to read.

by Marie on August 3rd, 2008 at 8:13 pm

  67. This is one of my favorite blogs! I have it saved on my favorites list! I check all the authors blogs often. I have my favorite authors I like to read but it it always fun, (hint) discovering new authors! Would love to see more new authors!

There is one thing I would like to suggest is if there could be a better way to announce winners to contests per author’s blog. There have been a lot of times where authors don’t announce for several weeks who the winner is, so I write down all the contests I enter in my journal, so I have a record of what I entered, in order to go back and find the correct date and author of the blog in your previous blog’s list. Just suggesting, maybe list winners in your sidebar or I know! List the winners each week in a separate blog entry, maybe on a Friday. Listing them with each author and their contest. That would make it so easy to find our names so we don’t have to search back in your previous blog entries to see who the winner is. Then, if an author still hasn’t selected a winner, it will be easy to find this blog entry because it will be always entered on that particular day of the week.

Again, I love your site! Always have and always will! You are the best and at the top of my blog’s list!

    Have a wonderful week!
    Hugs,
    Melis

by Melis L. on August 3rd, 2008 at 8:15 pm

  68. I like your site, its easy to navigate. Just please don’t make is complicated. Contests are a favorite.

by Sarah Ulfers on August 4th, 2008 at 1:59 am

  69. I have to say that I already enjoy the site quite a bit–I LOVE the blog, and the easy interaction with a variety of authors and guests. I see that other commentors have suggested adding more video, which I personally doubt I’d view much, but it seems to appeal to many. Thanks for working to make this an even sweeter resource for writers and readers!

by Fedora on August 4th, 2008 at 11:23 am

  70. I love the classes and would love to see more offered, plus, I’m always coming back to see if there are any new articles and sometimes it takes me a bit to remember where to find them.

Also, after I took Alison Kent’s class( on write erotic romance)-it was really great, however, it made me want to get her book–and it would be great if the author’s books were easy to buy from the site-but just a thought- It didn’t take me but a couple of clicks to order off of Amazon, so no biggie.

I love your site, though and it is easy to navigate!

And I read in the comments where others think a ‘winner’s circle’ would be great, and I have to agree also!

by Valerie Everhart on August 4th, 2008 at 1:10 pm

  71. I agree with the others about the contest winners. What about a forum page or even a author’s trivia. I’ve been seeing that alot on other sites. Other than that I really love your site.

by Kimmy L on August 4th, 2008 at 1:30 pm

  72. I enjoy visiting here - especially the blog. My only request is that it remain easy to navigate. My needs are fairly simple and I don’t require the bells and whistles that others do - nor do I have the time to take advantage of them all. I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s comments and suggestions though.

by Laurie on August 4th, 2008 at 3:36 pm

  73. I love the site as is….more trailers would be nice…more contest are always a plus. I too would love to hear about works in progress from the authors. Maybe the authors would do a little updating on their characters - even if a books isn’t coming out right away - little teasers to whet the appetite

by Kimberley C on August 4th, 2008 at 4:07 pm

  74. I love visiting your site. I agree with the other readers, more book trailers and teasers would be good. :)

    Hugs, Danette

  75. Love it like it is!

by Katie on August 4th, 2008 at 9:22 pm

  76. I’m visiting this site so much! Too, I’d like some different colors, only because sometimes bright colors clashing makes it hard for me to see. I love that you have the authors sites all available here. I’d like to see maybe a news page, it could be breaking news or even upcoming activities on the blog. Last thing, you ever plan to have a chat room? I’d love if you did and had evening chats sometimes to meet new authors and our favorites.

I have to say this is one of my favorite romance sites to visit! I can sit on the computer and look around but I never fail to visit this one!

by Caffey on August 5th, 2008 at 12:40 am

  77. Like everyone has said above, more writing contest, trailers, guest bloggers, etc would be nice. One thing I have is that some of the link colors are hard to read against the background colors, just IMO. Other than that I love AC. Love the contests and newsletters. I get to add many books to my “to be read” list. Thanks for having all the great contests!

by Lisa Evans on August 5th, 2008 at 6:43 am

  78. I really enjoy hearing about the authors writing process,

  79. I’d like to see book trailers and more classes.

by Ali on August 6th, 2008 at 10:46 am

  80. would like to see more book trailors. The site is great as is though.

by Marla A. on August 7th, 2008 at 7:47 am

  81. I really like the site the way it is. It is easy to navagate in and laid out well. I do enjoy book trailers. I also love to read the reviews on new books.

by Quilt lady on August 7th, 2008 at 2:01 pm

  82. I love the site the way it is! I would like to see more contests (like this one) and maybe an occasional price comparison of online bookstores, or something about promotions (like the one BooksOnBoard is running on RITA winners’ ebooks, which I would never have heard about if I hadn’t read it on my friend’s blog)

by Stella on August 7th, 2008 at 5:03 pm

  83. Love the blog. Love the contests.

I would ask that you request bloggers posting prizes keep the contest on over night. Due to my work schedule I don’t get to check my fav blogs until late at night or the wee hours of the morning. It’s pretty depressing to see a contest had been started that morning and already ended without my getting a chance to enter.

by Stacie Mc on August 7th, 2008 at 8:26 pm

  84. I love sneak peaks & excerps. Quite a few times i’ve bought books based on liking what i read! More contests please :)

by Linda on August 8th, 2008 at 6:57 am

  85. I love your site. But would like to see reviews and more excerpts. Maybe more on the authors with a list of all the types of books each one writes. Also where their books can be purchased.

by Anita Yancey on August 10th, 2008 at 1:30 pm

  86. just keep it easy to use

  87. It really would be awesome to see book trailers, and pictures of the characters in books. It would be fun to have a place to post what we think the characters look like etc.. Some place where the authors can show their pics and then we can comment!

  88. Don’t really have anything to add to what has already been posted. Although I agree with the comment that the site needs a little ‘modernizing’, please be careful not to do so to such an extent that it stops being easy to navigate.

  89. I love the idea of pod casts or book trailers. They are probably expensive and time comsuming to do but that would really put the WOW into Access Romance website. Thank-you for all of your hard you put into such a great website!

  91. I wonder if you could create more than one section/column on the webpage so that you can have more than one detailed section displayed at a time. The margin/pink space could be filled with additional information. What I also appreciate is when the main titles of the the latest blog entries are handily listed/summarized near the top of the page, if that makes sense. Then one knows which blog post may be of particular interest, and be able to link/jump to it right away instead of scanning down the page of posts. Thanks. Really enjoy the site and resources!

  92. I love this website. Some of the things I would like is more contests  , book and video blog entries, and book ratings/recommendations.

  93. I alway look forward to your email newsletters, sooo much info. Contests are always wonderful (hope to win some one day. Since being a newbie to writing, very interested in learning the craft & business of writing. Also of interest would be how published authors started and what pit-falls did they overcome b/4 being published. Time management is always a problem for me, soooo much to take in and wondering if anyone has super ideas on this subject. Love this site, so hope your changes will be ez to follow. I’m still having trouble navigating the net and getting around, any ideas or suggests would be helpful. SusieQ

  96. I think a set time should be made each week to blog with an author. Questions can be sent to moderator and controlling some of the chatter. Then have it available by author AND topie, i.e. if other talks about developing character, save under ‘character development’. This allows writer’s to not only go back to see what a favorite author had to say, but also to look at bloogs of all the authors that discussed character development.
