I just came back from LA and the Book Expo. Both were wonderful. Attending an event like Book Expo America always reminds me what a big business book publishing is. There were a number of celebrities like Dionne Warwick who signed her upcoming children’s book.

William Shatner, George Hamilton and Alec Baldwin also appeared to promote their titles. But it wasn’t just about fun and games. Jeff Bezos spoke about Amazon and mostly about Kindle. Terry McMillian gave an impassioned and humorous speech about the state of publishing and what’s wrong with it.

I enjoyed meeting with sales reps, booksellers and authors such as Lisa Jackson

Plus many others.

Free advance reading copies were given out and I had to pace myself otherwise I wouldn’t be able to fit them all in my suitcase home.

Cocktail parties, dinner parties, drinks. I hope to have pictures up on my site by next week. For now I’ll stay with the memories while I finish up the page proofs on A Gentleman’s Offer and work on my next book.
