What is it about cowboys that get your heart racing? Is the boots and hat? The chaps or huge belt buckle?

 Not for me!

It’s that swaggering, bravado, that “I can get the job done” attitude and the quiet determination that sets my blood on fire. Okay and the rough, work-worn hands. I can image them grazing my skin, setting every nerve on fire. It’s skin as tough as leather and muscles as hard as tree trunks, a lazy smile, a wink and I’m a gonner!

Cowboys absolutely rock! I have a few favorites from the movies:

1. John Wayne (you knew he had to be there, didn’t you?)

2. Russell Crowe (3:10 to Yuma)

3. Yul Brynner (love a man with a bald head)

4. Gary Cooper

5. Jimmy Stewart

6. Tom Selleck

7. Kevin Costner (Dances with Wolves)

8. Viggo Mortenson (Hidalgo)

9. Kurt Russell (Tombstone)

10. Alan Ladd (Shane)

Do you have favorites? Tell us about them!

I love writing cowboys! The sexier, the better! These are some of the stories I’ve written about cowboys and their women.

Aw, man. My favorite subject of all time. I could bore you guys and go on and on, but my favorite example is Tim McGraw’s song ‘Real Good Man’. With my own personal cowboy? It could be the way he looks at me out from under the brim of his black cowboy hat. Or how he fills out his jeans when he’s on horseback - makes me want to run my hand up his thigh. Everytime. It’s the quiet determination and dedication I see in him when he thinks no one is looking. It could be the fierce loyalty and love I see in his eyes. Everyday. Even when I irritate him. Nope - I think it’s the easy going swagger he has as he faces life’s obstacles.

Chelle, you are sooo blessed. The quiet, sexy look from beneath the brim of a cowboy hat, the way his jeans fit, the gentle sway of a man on horseback is poetry in motion. Oh yeah!

  3. Chelle Says:

LOL! Makes me want to go horseback riding!!

  4. Dina Says:

I loved Viggo Mortenson in Hidalgo.

  5. Myla Jackson Says:

Me too! He was such a hunky cowboy!

  6. Layne Says:

I don’t know about all cowboys, but give me Russell Crowe any day!

  7. Estella Says:

John Wayne has always been my favorite cowboy, followed closely by Sam Elliott.

  8. catslady Says:

Finally, someone else that mentioned Yul Brynner. He was the first actor who I had a crush on - Elvis was the second

  9. Denise A. Agnew Says:

    Myla,

Russell Crowe, Viggo Mortensen, and Tom Selleck. Yep, those are my favorites on your list.

  10. Myla Jackson Says:

You notice John Wayne was at the top of my list. And Yul, god I loved his bald head and loved, loved, loved him in The King and I.

Oh, and did I forget to put Sam Elliot on the list? His mustache is so much fun!

  11. Dina Says:

I see Russell Crowe listed from 3:10 to Yuma, but Christian Bale to me was the sexier cowboy.

  12. kim h Says:

colin ferrel in young guns i think.

  13. Susan Says:

Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday in Tombstone.

  14. Pat L. Says:

Yup, Tom Selleck. I used to love to see all the westerns with my family as a kid/teen. Rio Bravo I believe with Ricky Nelson, Gunfight at OK Corall.

I love your covers and think I have one of those on my tbr. Have to check.

  15. Laurie G Says:

How about Paul Newman & Robert Redford in Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid? They were bank robbers but also cowboys/outlaws in the west on horseback!
