Okay, in the context of this blog, you’re probably thinking I’m making an announcement about a new book deal. Wrong!
On May 3rd, I attended a Bachelor’s Auction in a nearby Arkansas town with a group of writer buddies—strictly for research purposes—uh huh. And all in the name of a good cause—to raise money for cancer research. The fact that 150 single-ish women were there to bid on 50 men didn’t have a thing to do with it. The fact most were liquored up and hooting while the men strutted their stuff was just glaze on a plain peach cobbler.
I took notes while a friend snapped pictures. All of us tested the margaritas—so that we could accurately describe the flavor.
The sponsors did manage to find at least two handsome men; the rest were the regular guys next door. One even strongly resembled the big guy from the Blue Collar Comedy show. I was very, very tempted. Something about beer guts and baseball caps gets me every time. Must be the secret redneck lurking in my soul.
Instead, my warped sense of humor got the best of me, and I found myself bidding on the most conservative judge in the county. Natch, I won the bidding war.
The judge and I had dinner last night—my prize. I sat across from him, a small mysterious smile on my lips, all the while chortling inside and wondering what he’d think if he knew a notorious erotica author was already planning a sexy tale in her mind that included a much younger version of him.
I’d love to hear your suggestions about the sort of story I should write.

It should involve a scene that takes place in his Chambers after hours. A judges chambers are normally removed from the general public eyes, it would make a great place to meet after the everyone else has gone home.

Patty!
I love the idea of a “in the chambers” tryst!
Colleen!
Thanks for having confidence in me!

Oh, the things one must do for research….hehe!!! Sounds like you had a really great time!! I think your heroine should have a secret vendetta against the Judge and wants to bring him down a peg or two. By winning him in an auction, she brings him onto her ground so she can have his undivided attention. But of course, the searing attraction between them cannot be denied!!!

hi Delilah, i stopped by your blog and saw that you were blogging here today.. what fun that auction must have been.. boy the possiblities are probably endless with that scenario.. i agree with Valerie, the bidder has a vendeta against him for putting someone she loves away, but in the end its hotter than they can handle..i love a happily ever ending..

Hi Delilah!!
Sounds like the auction was a lot of fun!
I’m not very good at brainstorming, but I love the ideas of Patty L and Valerie!

Yeah, and maybe the gals ex who was incarcerated gets out and is planning his own vendetta against the handsome, sexy, hunky judge and she now needs to save him…or each other…or….????

Valerie & Jolene!
Definitely has to be a revenge thing, don’t you think? Maybe he didn’t go easy on her hellion brother and she’s holding a grudge! Hmmm…Valerie! I like that dark edge you’re adding with the ex who’d getting out of jail–but then she’d be grateful to the judge, right?
Stefanie!
Thanks for stopping in to say hello!
-
DD,
I was thinking brother, too. She’d be holding a grudge, but of course he’d a good-for-nothing… the brother, that is. And since they’re all small-town people who grew up together. Maybe there’s an unresolved prom story there too between the judge and the girl…
You get into the craziest situations, my friend!

Masha! Yeah! So brother it is. And yes, I do have a distinct talent for getting into really strange and funny situations–what can I say? “It’s a gift…and a curse!” (My favorite “Monk” line!)

LOL!! Love MONK!!

maybe after becoming involved with the judge you could write a book and name him
and others in the book and then there would be a scandal b/c the judge wouldn’t want the world to know about his insecurities(even though he is in high power in the court room) and his fantasies. The war is on to get the author of the book up for charges on telling all. Just a suggestion.

I’m sorry but I DID NOT mean for it to sound like I was suggesting you get involved with the judge; I meant for the bidder in your story to be doing this. Whew, glad I noticed that and explained it.

LOL, Robyn! The real judge is soooo not my type. But the fictional one I write…if he’s really into something strange and kinky…wow! So, many places I could take it, especially if I set it here in the middle of the Bible Belt where sex is something 12-year-olds have but aren’t supposed to learn how NOT to conceive in the classroom!
-
Maybe the Judge has a secret kinky side to him, that he feels he could let out with this woman who bidded on him. The woman wants to humiliate him…but because of the attraction she cannot.

But of course the judge has a kinky side to him. He’s a handsome young man and it’s the Bible Belt, and we’re in DD’s world. So much being repressed. Oh, to let it loose… Hmm, and the A/C isn’t working very well in here…

Valerie and Masha!
I shoud just let the two of you plot it, then give it to me to write! Great job!

Ooh, not sure about story… but, I’m thinking of a scene where he’s sitting at his bench during court, and no one knows someone is under his desk
Love the Monk quote, btw
great show.

Ali!!! Naughty girl! LOL
Maybe he’d envisioning it while he watches her in the courtroom and he can feel the heat fill his face and wish she’d leave because he really should keep his mind on bizness!
-
I see it where he’s all good and proper and everything in his court is going according to the rules, and he’s conducting himself appropriately… outwardly, that is… while he can’t help thinking of what he might do… and everything the defense lawyer, or the prosecutor says only leads him down a more and more uncomfortable path.
And SHE is sitting right there in the back, glaring…

DD, you are so damn bad, and you know why, you naughty girl, lol!

I love all the suggestions. I will try to add something a little different. It has been said that the judge has a kinky side. He could frequent some sex clubs, and the heroine knows about it. It could be a little blackmail to go along with the revenge.

You should have told him you are an author. I bet he finds out some day and will be thrilled he’ll probably tell the story for years about his date with a famous author.

Kimberly!! Whassup?! Yeah, I know I’m supposed to be doing something productive right now, but this is lots more fun!
Melissa! So, he’s into some serious kink and maybe uses a disguise when he’s out–but she threatens to out him…hmmm…might could work!
Wilma–Monk is an inspiration. You’ll see why come February!
Amy–you just want more vamps and weres and things that go bump in the night!
Theresa! Believe me, the poor man would have been horrified! LOL

I love your books I’ve read 2 of your books and I was shocked how you had Chessa get by Alex which is Rene and Natalie’s son. I’ me glad she was able to get back a kid but I was so hoping that Nicolas would have done it by some miracle. I wonder when will Alex story come out. Keep up the great work

LOL Sounds like you had quite the night at the auction. *g*
Maybe the heroine will loosen up the staid, conservative judge. Who knows?

I was thinking a scene where she is wearing his judge’s robe and nothing else. Oh the possibilities. Do you think the real judge had any idea what you were thinking?

Thanks so much for letting me know you loved “Seduced!” And yes, Alex’s book is coming up next!!
NJ!
The auction was a blast. I took 8 pages of notes. The comments from the folks around me were so dang funny, they just about wrote the opening scene for a new book!
Debbie C!
I like the idea of the bad girl dressing in his robes. Perrrrrrfect! LOL
PamK!
If he’d known, he would have been flying away from me–fast!
Valerie!
I’m so glad someone likes the “bumping!”
Thanks everyone for hanging out with me!! DD

Well, we wouldn’t want your “research” to go to waste. How about some male shifters feline/wolf/equine/reptilian/bear…decide to hold a charitable auction with themselves as the auctionees. This would be a way for them to locate their mate. Maybe held on a secluded island (owned and run by the shifter community) with romantic beaches, natural settings for them to feel at home in…lagoons, cabins, exotic foods.
