I’m late!
Hi everyone. I’m Sasha, and I was supposed to blog this morning. But I slept through my alarm and was late for work, and in my rush to get to work on time, I forgot to post my blog. The post I wrote no longer makes sense, so I’m wingin’ it.
I’m going to show you some pictures from my trip to New York last week… simply because I had a BLAST there. I went there to attend the Novelist Inc conference, and to visit my editors and see what a publishing house looks like.
Of course, it’s New York, and I did more than attend workshops and visit my editors.
First up. The view of the street from my hotel room window. I was in the hotel room writing on Sunday (instead of taking part in one of the workshops) and not really paying attention to the traffic. I know the sound of heavy traffic can drive many people nuts, but I live in a fairly big city, an it doesn’t bother me. In fact, I wasn’t even paying attention to it until suddenly, it sounded musical. The car horns honking outside was like a symphony. So I had to take a peek, an I saw all the yellow and had to snap a pic.
Next up. Some writerly friends in the hotel room. One of the best parts of this trip was that I got to spend so much more time getting to know my fellow authors. The ones I spent the most time with are ones I’ve met before, or even know quite well online. But spending leisure time with them that wasn’t all about writing and promotions was very special. (We’re women and we did talk about more than business, although there really was a lot of business talk too… but we were all excited about being in the city, and life in general. It was a time to become more than business associates. We became friends.)
And one of my fave pics… The Empire State Building, at night. Our hotel was right across the street form Madison Square Garden, and as we walked along I could look up and spot this building easily. I wish I’d had a better lense to take a proper photo, but after playing with the shadows and highlights, I really like the way this one turned out.
I hope you enjoyed the impromtu and sparse tour of my trip. If you want to see more, keep an eye out on my blog. Ill be posting more over the weekend.
