Last Friday I turned in my latest book. Then I took my so s-l-o-w computer down to the computer doctor for a clean up and spent the weekend pottering about. On Monday I settled down to make The List of post-book chores—the little administrative things that have to be done, the tasks that I haven’t gotten to in the past few weeks when the single driving thought in my head has been FINISHING THE BOOK.
I wrote The List. It seems to be dauntingly long. I’ve made a start on it. I’ve even re-written it—twice—to group similar tasks to do. Not that re-writing The List gets more done. But in some kind of fool-myself-way it feels like I’m making invisible progress. It’s pinned up in front of my computer, staring down at me mercilessly right now. I will do 20 things a day…until every job is done! There, that feels better already.
Usually when I turn in a book I tidy my office…re-organize my desk…and find all those clutch pencils that my husband and kids all swear blind that they never touched. I’ve started The Big Tidy…but it’s not finished yet. Usually I also read voraciously when I finish a book. I crave A Binge Read. But this time I’ve picked up books I’ve been dying to read and put them down. It’s nothing to do with the books—and everything to do with me. For some reason restlessness has set in…
I have another book to write. But not until I’ve made some headway on The List, The Big Tidy… and certainly not until I’ve binged on a couple of good books.
So, anyone have any suggestions of a truly relaxing & inspirational read?
Take care,
Tessa

Hi Tessa,
I’m afraid I’m having the same trouble you’ve had with your computer only mine really had it this time, I’ve got the poor thing completely fried.
I’m afraid don’t really have anything in mind to suggest at the moment but good luck with The Big Tidy.

Wow, congrats on getting started on the Big Tidy!
What kinds of books do you enjoy? I discovered Lisa Wingate last year, and have really enjoyed her books. Some of them seem to deal with relatively serious topics, but somehow they aren’t depressing at all–I just can’t stop turning the pages and then I feel encouraged after I’m done. Or if you’re looking for lighter kind of reading, I’ve loved Sarah Mayberry’s books–she writes for Blaze. And Rhonda Nelson and Tawny Weber and Karen Foley have all written great Blazes. Stacey Kayne’s Mustang Wild and Maverick Wild are amazing if you like Westerns. I really liked Dara’s Taming Mariella, and Merline Lovelace’s last couple NeXTs–EX Marks the Spot and Risky Business.
Not sure if that’s what you had in mind! I couldn’t think of just one! Let us know what you decide on!

I am currently reading Deidre Martins’ Just A Taste and it is a witty, contemporary romance. I love it, but am only reading a chapter or two a night, so that I can accomplish everything on my list. LOL

Thanks Mona
I am making headway.
Sorry to hear about the fried computer…that’s terrible. Hope you had your stuff and any precious photos backed up…
Patty…witty contemporary romance sounds just like what I need. I’ll look out for Deidre Martins–maybe I need to go on a SEP binge too! Yip, and I think you’re right about savouring it in little bites. I read a historical novel–one of those sweeping sagas–like that a while back and I did really enjoy reading like that.
Fedora, I haven’t discovered Lisa Wingate yet. I’ll look out for her. I’ve been meaning to buy FLYBOY, thanks for the reminder! Tawny is a dear friend and a fabbo writer! I love her books. I’ve read Merline Lovelace in SIM but never in NEXT–will look out for that.
I’ve been meaning to read the Stacey Kayne westerns–I’ve heard such good things about them and the covers are gorgeous. I’ve popped all three of you into the draw for the voucher I’ll be drawing later in the year for comments on my access blog posts. Thanks for popping by!
