Attitude

Karen Kelley

HI Everyone,

Have you ever seen the commercial, This is your brain on drugs?  Then it shows scrambled eggs or something.  I’m thinking that could apply to writers, too.  Especially if there is an approaching deadline (next week) and their son is getting married (next weekend).

No, it’s not that bad.  I love writing and I don’t mind working under pressure.  I think I actually do better–less time to sweat the small stuff.

I did a booksigning a few months ago and this lady strolled past the table where I was sitting.  I asked her if she would like a bookmark and told her that it was free.  She stopped, and I kid you not, looked down her nose at me and said, I think not.  Very la-te-da.  Well, alrighty.

I want a T-shirt that says: Be Careful of the Toes You Step On Today Because They Might Be Attached To The Ass You Have To Kiss Tomorrow.

Wouldn’t it have been funny if she went to work on Monday morning and I would’ve been her new boss?       Priceless.  Sometimes my fantasy world is quite fun to live in.

Have a fantastic day, and remember, if anyone snubs you, fire their butt!

  1. I actually have a shirt that says “Everyone has the right to be an idiot, but you’re abusing the privelege.” Oh, and my Happy Bunny bumper sticker says “It worries me how dumb you are.”
It’s shocking sometimes just HOW dumb and rude people can be!

  2. Shocking, yes! And it always surprises me. I had an older woman tell me once that she was a Christian and didn’t read that trash. The bad thing is, because it does shock me someone could be that rude, I can never think of anything to say. I think I’ll just ask them to come back in an hour.

  3. I think you got the makings of a story there!!! Maybe the hero is rude or snubs the heroine and the next day she’s his boss!!

I’m always amazed at how rude people can be anymore. People have quit teaching children to treat others as you would want to be treated.

I love those “quotes” for you shirts and bumper stickers! Only problem is the people that they apply to, will either 1. not get it or 2. think it doesn’t apply to them.

  4. I have been to booksignings and watched the interactions of people that come in by accident. For some reason they all think their better than the writer or the reader. I’ll never understand. Do we look down on people who only read the newspaper, a magazine or (gasp) nonfiction? No because we believe that reading is reading and no matter what you choose to read, your reading something that you enjoy. Next time someone says or does something that is rude, ask them to turn around so that you can pull the stick out of their @$$.

  5. Maybe you should have offered her a laxative so she could get rid of the stick up her ass.

  6. Oh, oh, I was telling my friend and author, Melissa Schroeder about what I blogged about, and she said Shelly Bradley (another friend and author) said a woman once stopped at the table where she was signing books, and the woman looked at her, then told her she was going to hell. Without blinking an eye, Shelley said “Good, I like hot weather.” I’m going to have to remember that one!

  7. OMG, Laurie’s comment made me spew my drink! Too funny! I hope I remember that one the next time my teenager says something rude.

  8. I feel sorry for people who look down on romance. Maybe they don’t like sex either. Sounds like a sad way to live to me!

  10. I wonder how many times that actually happens where you wind up having to kiss someone’s ass. And Yes, you are very funny, Karen to have come up with that remark.

  11. Some people are appallingly rude! Makes you wonder how they were brought up and if they have children just as rude as they are.

  12. How sad, Karen! Thanks for the reminder to be kind, and I hope you enjoy the rest of your week–sounds like an exciting one!! Congrats!

  13. I figure people don’t know what they’re missing by not reading romance, or reading anything at all.

I’ve learned to pretty much take the snide remarks in stride. I almost (almost, but not quite) feel sorry for them. Their lives must be really bitter.

  16. Good Lord Karen, how sad you’re going to have to start carrying those laxatives around LOL. But that would sure shut them up, wouldn’t it? We love you Karen, and your books. Hope that helps sooth the bitter aftertaste of those who feel the need to make others feel bad about something they love to do.

  17. One of y’all makes up for 100 snooty people!

All the comments made me smile, chuckle and just feel good all over. I don’t know what I would do without other romance readers and writers!
    Great Big Hugs!!!
