The Best Gift of All

Susan Stephens

We all love a reading fantasy, and I don’t suppose many of us would refuse a scene or two with the guy on this cover…

But-

If you were to receive the very best gift of all on Valentine’s Day, what would it be?

Or, have you ever had a Valentine’s Day that went badly wrong?

Share your laughter and smiles with us for the chance to win a prize chosen at random from everyone who posts here.

Or, and here’s another idea for you…

If you had to choose your fantasy read just from these covers alone, which one would you choose, and why?

I think we’ve got enough there to get the chatting started!

And I, for one, can’t wait to chat with you

Hugs around the world,

Susan

  1. Ooh, Susan, all of those covers are pretty fantasy-inspiring! I like the “Bought: One Island, One Bride” and “Laying down the Law”–those are some hunky guys… and the idea of being “bought” is kind of fun as a fantasy ;)

One of the very best V-day gifts (or any day, really) would be a library–dream big, right?

  2. Fedora, I’m drooling over your idea of a library- how wonderful would that be

  3. Oh geez, purely based on the covers. . . I looooved the look of Desert King, Pregnant Mistress and Under the Italian’s Command. I’d love to be under their command! Ah, don’t mean that how it probably sounds. . . LOLOL

  4. Do you think it’s the same man, Lois? I can’t decide, but both pics are fab Sxx

  5. My favorite cover is Under the Italian’s Command, Rather unique I would say. I would love a dream trip since I have never had the opportunity and the time is right. For me it would be an Italian Mediterranean Cruise.

  6. Aaaaah, Uuuuuum, an Italian Med cruise… that sunshine, that food, those men…

by Susan Stephens on February 13th, 2008 at 12:36 pm

  7. I love the cover for Bought Island. It depicts an entirely different lifestyle which is like a dream.
Mine would be a beach house retreat complete with inhouse cook etc.

Ruth, I’m loving this idea… if only!

by ruth on February 13th, 2008 at 1:56 pm

  8. I’m not going to be picky I take all of them. LOL There is something about each that I love. Under the Italian’s Command looks great. The island look is wonderful in
Bought, but she almost looks like she backing away from him. Bad breath, maybe?

The perfect Valentine’s Day would be for my hubbie to take me out for dinner without kids and then a suite at a hotel where we can fall in love all over again. It’s so hard now that the kids are getting older. LOL

What a great ad that would make for a dental floss manufacturer- use this and you get the guy and the boat!

by Patty L. on February 13th, 2008 at 2:19 pm

  9. I would choose the tycoons virgin. From looking at the cover the gentleman in the tub looks very inventive.

I’m liking the tub scenes too, Estella- at least we know everyone’s nice and clean ;-)

by Estella on February 13th, 2008 at 2:35 pm

  10. The covers are certainly a deight to the eyes. My fave is the Island one. A velntine treat would be a mini vacation getaway with my husband to a tropical island.

I have to say the colours on this cover really draw me to it and get my imagination working- you can almost feel the sun, can’t you… Mmmmm

by anne on February 13th, 2008 at 2:38 pm

  11. Okay, I agree with the others, the Island cover appeals most because it looks like they are on a yacht. I’d love that.

Best Valentine’s Day gift: my husband and I gave each other the exact same card one year and it was one of those that you look at and immediately know, that’s the ONE. However, this year I’d bet my husband would tell you the best gift I’ve ever given him was finishing the taxes without hassling him once AND we’re getting a refund!

A Tax refund Whoah, I am impressed!!

  12. All of those covers are amazing, but my favorites are “Under the Italian’s Command” and “The Tycoon’s Virgin.” I like bathtub/jacuzzi scenes.

by Jane on February 13th, 2008 at 2:53 pm

  13. I’d choose Under The Italian’s Command because, from the title, this book should be about an Italian hero, which I like (I’m Italian), plus, the cover looks hot. :)

I’m with you on the Italian heroes, Carol, but then I love them all!!

by Carol on February 13th, 2008 at 3:54 pm

  14. The covers are enticing and I enjoy the boat one the best. A valentine that I appreciate would be a vacation to paradise. Tahiti or the islands.

I would so love to go to the South Sea Islands…

  15. My best gift of all would really have nothing to do with Valentine’s day - well, maybe. I have 2 “best gifts” - one would be a book shopping spree, and I pretty much only read romances - so that would be slightly related. The other, would be a definite job once I graduate from law school - but that would be a “best gift” at any time.

Good luck with the law course, JSL, and with your job hunt afterwards- and award yourself a little down time with a great romance- you’ll come back to the work fresh and ready for action!

by JSL on February 13th, 2008 at 5:57 pm

  16. I had a horrible Valentine’s Day many years ago when my then boyfriend told me that he wanted to date other women! Ouch! Needless to say, that was the end of our relationship.

Ouch, indeed! Better luck today, Linda!

by Linda F on February 13th, 2008 at 6:12 pm

  17. Hi everyone. Well I’ve never had the horrible Valentine’s Day because to be truthful for some reason I’ve never been with anyone on this day (always the fifth wheel if you know what I mean). This will be my first year and I’m excited considering that Valentine’s Day is tomorrow.
As for the covers of the novels I would have to say that “Desert Kind, Pregnant Mistress”. My reason for this is because I was a single mother until recently (now engaged) and my head starts spinning stories on this title. Is she pregnant from another man? Is he going to sweep her off her feet and let her know that she’s not alone and never will be?
My fiance is not my son’s father but he’s there for everything. He makes me feel secure for the first time in my life. Also he makes me feel loved to a point of breaking. I know off topic a little…lol…to make it quick from here the novel’s picture alone makes me feel like this lady may be going through what I have and that’s what makes me want to read this novel.

Tara, I love your story. Wishing you nothing but happiness and love from now on Sxx

by Tara on February 13th, 2008 at 7:53 pm

  18. My eye went to “Desert King, Pregnant Mistress” first but my mind likes “Bought: One Island, One Bride”. Maybe because we just got 7″ of snow and that island with that hunk sounds mighty enticing.

by catslady on February 13th, 2008 at 10:31 pm

  19. Oh what delicious covers Susan! I adore the cover of the book, BOUGHT, ONE ISLAND, ONE BRIDE. The picture is fantastic of the couple kissing. The title alone says a lot! That would be my fantasy!

I have not had a horrible Valentine’s Day but more funny ones than anything! Here is one Valentine’s day that sticks out in my mind. Al had a Valentine gift delivered to me at the office. I used to work at an architectural firm for 18 years. I worked with a bunch of guys so keep that in mind. Well, the present was delivered to me mid-morning. The present had a single red rose on the top of the box. The guys asked me to open it up. So I did. Al had given me a pair of strappy black shoes. I loved them! Well the guys all roared with laughter. I thought it was such a nice present.

Anyway, I went to lunch with a friend. When, I came back my new shoes were gone. Just great! Who took my shoes?! Well, I asked all the guys on my floor and know one knew who took them. I looked and looked. I finally found them later in the day. Guess where they were? In the refrigerator. A guy from the marketing dept. had put them in there. Well, I was annoyed but had a good laugh. My husband is such a sweetie!

I also had another very memorable Valentine’s day present. My husband did the same thing again and had a present delivered to me at the office. This time it was a big box with a spray of red roses on it. When I opened the box you won’t believe what was inside! A burgundy velvetine gown, black nylons, my pearl necklace that Al gave to me at our wedding, a pair of black nylons, and a wrist corsage with a burgundy flower. I was flabbergasted! There was also a note that read, “I will pick you up at 5:30pm. Be ready!” He took me to a fancy restaurant and we had wine, prime rib and lobster for dinner! I was so awestruck that he would go to all that trouble! Well, the dinner led to some fun afterwards….

What an amazing man you have there, Michele!

  20. Patty- just got up here in the UK - you made me scream with laughter- bad breath? My hero? Wouldn’t it be fun if she had a pack of floss in her hand?

    No. Don’t get me started-

  21. Oh, all those covers give me some very sensual and naughty ideas for this Special Day. My Valentine’s Day is already so wonderful as my husband and I were married on this wonderful day for lovers and every year reminds me of how much I love and appreciate this special man in my life…I feel very blessed.

Shari, this is another wonderful comment that I know will give us all the warmest feelings; thank you Sx
