About our Contests and Giveaways

Books, books, and more books.

Gail Barrett

Traditional books are dead. We see that news constantly these days. Book sales are down. Paper books are on their way out. Internet piracy is killing the publishing industry. No one buys books anymore. E-readers are taking over the market.

You couldn’t tell it by our house. We read books, lots of books, paper books, all the time. Almost every room in our house has bookcases — plural. My study has five. The family room two. The living room one huge one. My oldest son’s bedroom still looks like a library, even though he has moved out and taken most of his books with him. We have piles of books beside our bed, more in the kitchen, everywhere.

We don’t often get rid of books, which accounts for the piles. Old textbooks have mostly been relegated to the basement because of space. We finally parted with about a thousand children’s books when our boys graduated from high school (although I did keep the classics). The books were falling apart, so I donated them all to an elementary school before they disintegrated completely. Sometimes I weed through my shelves and set aside a stack to discard — after I read them all again. So mostly, the stack just gets shuffled around the house a bit. Rarely, rarely do I really give a book away.

And of course, during the holidays, we buy even more books. We love collections, so books make the perfect gift. Gift certificates to Borders or Amazon are a big item. Last year I bought my husband all the Roderic Jeffries mysteries. This year it’s Donna Leon. The year before last was Bernard Cornwall. We’ve bought various collections for each of our kids over the years, too. The kids learned early on that I would rarely deny them a book. If they wanted it, they got it. Cars, no. Books, yes.

And I love collections of books. When I find a book I love, I buy and read everything that writer has ever written. For example, I just discovered Karen Marie Moning’s Highland series, and I now have a stack of brand new, unread books waiting beside my bed. I love that feeling — the gleeful anticipation, knowing that I have a whole new world waiting for me to get lost in, hours and hours of guaranteed delight ahead.

So, how about you? Do you still buy traditional paper books? Who are some of your favorite romance authors? Anyone you recommend and collect?

And because it’s the holiday season, I’ll give away a $15 gift certificate to Amazon for someone who answers. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

  1. Our household is definitely traditional books. We are in Australia for the year and we moved with over 150 books and have purchased many books while we have been here.

I love the feel holding a book and can’t imagine reading only from a e reader.

Some of my favorite authors… eep.. the list is so long - Suzanne Brockmann, Robyn Carr, Catherine Mann, Alyssa Day/Alesia Holliday, Suzanne Forster, Deidre Knight, Allison Brennan, SEP, JD Robb/Nora Roberts.

I happen to love your smoke jumpers books. :)

  2. I love paperbacks. We only have an older computer with dial up so I avoid ebooks. I already sit at the computer for too long a period and it’s uncomfortable. I have books stashed everywhere too..under beds, in closets lots of bookshelves dispersed throughout the house.
I’ve recently discovered Julia London and have purchased her Regent Street Rogues and 2 of the 3 Desperate Debutantes along with her Highland series. I’ve also recently started to read Sandra Hill, absolutely love her scense of humor. Two others Karen Hawkins and Christina Dodd. Finally, Suzanne Enoch.

  4. With currently over 800 books on my bookshelf, I would have to say I’m a traditionalist. My eyes go cross when I try to read ebooks (I have about 8 of those). My favorite authors are Karen Kelley, LuAnn McLane, Janice Maynard, Leslie Kelly, Mary Janice Davidson, Charlaine Harris, Carly Phillips, Toni Blake, Janelle Dennison, Vicki Lewis Thompson, Rhonda Nelson, Jennifer Labreque and many more that I know I’m missing. I have been learning of so many new authors lately that I’m sure that list is going to keep growing. I have a hard time getting rid of any of my books. But my definate keepers are Mary Janice’s Undead series, Charlaine Harris’ Southern Vampire Series, plus all the books that I have signed by the authors. But then there are some that I have enjoyed so much that I will read again: Jennifer Crusie’s Welcome to Temptation, Kasey Michaels’ Maggie mysteries, and Kimberly Raye’s vampire dating books.

  5. Yes, I definitely buy paperbacks. They are my preferred reading choice. I have a huge collection. Some of my favorite authors are: Julia London, Julianne MacLean, Julia Quinn, Elizabeth Hoyt, Lisa Kleypas, Christina Dodd, Karen Hawkins, Nicole Jordan, Sherrilyn Kenyon/Kinley MacGregor, J.R. Ward, Keri Arthur and many more.

  6. I also am a tradionalist. I hate to read from the computer. After sitting in front of one everyday at work and then while I work on my own wip, I don’t want to read from the computer. I love the feeling of buying books and the anticipation of opening the cover of a new world.

I like Gail can not deny my children books and they know it. We have never left a store without at least one book for everyone. My eleven year old daughter reads young adult, her current favorite book is Demon Envy by Erin Lynn (McCarthy). My eight year old son reads “Captain Underpants” like their going out of style. Of course his favorite author is Matt Christopher (sports books). My husband doesn’t read very often, but a good western or military story will catch his attention. I love romance and I have a million favorite authors. I can’t say what’s on my keeper shelf because they all are. Some of my all time favorites are SEP, Nora Roberts, Dianne Castell, Carly Philips, Janelle Denison, Lori Foster, etc.

by Patty L. on November 29th, 2007 at 9:26 am

  7. I love the feel of a book in my hands. I have read ebooks, but it’s just not the same for me, and I can’t imagine that being the only way to read. Now I now it’s better for the environment, and I do feel guilty about that.

I love Erin McCarthy, Lori Foster, Dianne Castell, Lucy Monroe, Suzanne Brockmann, Lisa Kleypas, and a ton more.

by Stacy ~ on November 29th, 2007 at 9:45 am

  8. Love traditional books–our house is full of them :) I do have a few e-books, but often will print them out to read away from the computer (defeating the point of e-books, right?)
Some of my favorites are on lots of other people’s lists–SEP, Debbie Macomber, Jennifer Crusie, Lori Foster, Nora Roberts, Lisa Kleypas, Julia Quinn, Rhonda Nelson, Sarah Mayberry… and yes, I love to gather the entire series whenever possible before diving in. Nothing like the comfort of a stocked TBR!

  9. I read print books and love the feel of them, the smell of them and just having them in my surroundings. I have always cherished books and will forever. They are treasures. I enjoy books by Billie Letts, Monica Woods, Taylor Holden, Deborah Crombie, SEP, Lauren Willig, Nora Roberts, and many more which I appreciate greatly.

by ruth on November 29th, 2007 at 10:13 am

  10. Traditional books. . . nah, don’t do them. I mean, the fact that I’m surrounded by traditional books of all kinds, on the right are some romances, in front of me are my Jane Austen and Phantom of the Opera related shelf, in front of that are romances and sciences and boxes of books all around that is just a dream. ;-) Ah, yeah, you could say I’m a tad addicted. :) I have a few ebooks here and there, but in the end, when I get off the computer, I really want to get off the computer. And my pda I use mostly for music anymore. So if trad books are dying, I’m definitely not ready for the funeral!! LOL :)

  11. I still love paperbacks. I’m slowly getting into ebooks even though I don’t have an ebook reader, but I think I will still buy paperbacks. Hardcovers are nicer, but they cost so much more. I collect books from Julie Garwood, Julia Ross, Heather Graham, Lisa Kleypas and Stephanie Laurens.

by Jane on November 29th, 2007 at 10:49 am

  12. paperbacks are good, much cheaper also

  13. Very nice topic. I just wrote a post about my thoughts about ebooks, especially in the light of Kindle. Please check it out (There is another recent post I did on Censorship and novels, I will let you find it..: http://emberglow.wordpress.com/2007/11/29/kindle-amazons-ipod-for-books/

I would say classic romance novels like Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, Far from the Madding crowd, Gone with the Wind etc. will never be old. In fact most modern romance novels are based on them in one way or another. I must admit I have not heard almost ANY OF THE AUTHORS everyone has mentioned with so much gusto. It maybe because I’m more into classics and critically acclaimed books than best sellers. This should also explain why some people have tons of books and they read heaps.

”Reading” and ”Books” are very subjective terms. While there are light romance reads one can almost eat with one’s eyes… But try something dense like Snow Falling on the Cedars, which, I think, is a great romance, mystery story (someone humorously called it Sleep falling on the reader)And further try Birds Without Wings by Louis de Bernieres. And then there are the so called modernists from James Joyce, Faulker to the modern ones. When you begin to read literary works like this, you will find they take lots of time and attention. But rewards are greater than just giving you a fuzzy feeling for a while.

by Ember on November 29th, 2007 at 12:42 pm

  14. Sandra Brown is an awesome author for me; I love her style of writing.
I have some e-books and a Palm reader but I also like paper backs. I think the covers
are art in and of themselves. I have the gift set of Anne of Green Gables by LMM and enjoy those.

by RobynL on November 29th, 2007 at 1:03 pm

  15. Ember - you make some good points. The classics endure for a reason, although by modern standards, some of them could use some editing. I have plenty of classics on my shelves (Hey! I majored in Spanish literature in my undergrad years), and I do go back and read them. Tolstoy, Ortega y Gasset, Cervantes, Dickens — I’ve got them all. (And my husband loved Snow Falling on Cedars, by the way.)
BUT, I also think there is room for books that are just FUN. The books I keep and reread are both fun and well-written. They may not all be classics, but they are highly entertaining and retain my attention reading after reading. My moods vary. Sometimes I want something slow and meaty, sometimes I want funny and sexy.
When I do come across a book that isn’t really to my taste, either because it’s too gory, or maybe it just doesn’t grab me, I put it in one of my tote bags to take to a local book swap. I only keep the books that I want to reread. And it turns out that there are tons of those!

  16. I am forever buying print books. I am always looking online and in all the stores I go to that have books. I prefer the print book to the ebook. As easy as things get erased on the computer and I just can’t get myself to read a book in just one place at the computer, print is just all around better for me. It’s so much easier to mark your spot in a print book than an ebook. By the time I find my spot where I left off on an ebook, I’ve waisted lots of time I could have already been reading a print.
Some of my favorite authors are Diana Gabaldon, Dorothy Garlock, Jill Gregory, Norah Hess, Johanna Lindsey, Karen Marie Moning, Karen Robards, Bertrice Small, Kathleen Woodiwiss. There are several other authors I really like. Most of these authors I am collecting their books, but there are several other authors I haven’t listed I collect too.

by Tammy G. on November 29th, 2007 at 1:20 pm

  17. Yes, I definitely buy paperbacks. I have a few short e-books that I read on my PC, but that just doesn’t match the really thing!

Some of my favorites authors are: Jill Shalvis, Donna Kauffman, Jennifer Crusie, Rachel Gibson, Barbara Delinsky, Deirdre Martin, Lucy Monroe, Sandra Brown, Janelle Denison, Lori Foster, Carly Phillips, Leslie Kelly, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Dianne Castell and Karen Kelley.

by Susan on November 29th, 2007 at 1:28 pm

  18. I really can’t ever see print books leaving the market in favor of E books. I don’t see it happening. My favorite romance authors are mostly romantic suspense : Allison Brennan and Lisa Gardner. Other authors I like, not necessarily romance though:
Tess Gerritsen, Harlan Coben, Janet Evanovich, Tori Carrington, Robert Crais, Greg Iles, JK Rowling, Erin McCarthy, and many more.

by RachaelfromNJ on November 29th, 2007 at 1:41 pm

  19. I love paperbacks. I also read ebooks. My fave authors are Lora Leigh, Shiloh Walker, Sarah McCarty, Cheyenne McCray, Linda Howard, Heather Graham, and Jennifer Crusie.

  20. I looooove paperbacks! - I actually wrote paperbags, first lol! - I prefer to have the book in my hands and take it with me and such. Gah! I have soooo many favorite authors, I’ll only mention a few: Gena Showalter, Kresley Cole, Rachel Gibson, Jill Shalvis, and Charlaine Harris, - well, there’s tons of others but I’m too lazy to keep going, lol. But I would certainly recommend them all. :D

by Wendy on November 29th, 2007 at 2:21 pm

  21. Most of the bvooks I buy are paperback. My TBR pile looks like the Alps.
My favorite authors are Nora Roberts, Bertrice Small, Christine Feehan, Lucy Monroe, Jana DeLeon, Janet Evanovitch to name a few.

by Estella on November 29th, 2007 at 3:06 pm

  22. Paperbacks are my favorite too. They don’t cost much and you get hours of entertainment. Some of my favorites are Linda Howard, Lisa Kleypas, Loretta Chase and a whole bunch more.

by Maureen on November 29th, 2007 at 3:11 pm

  23. I love paperbacks. My dh is always complaining we have more books than the library! Some auto buy authors are Suzanne Brockmann, Suzanne Forster, Robin D. Owens, Amy Fetzer, Linda Howard, Deidre Knight, Nalini Singh, Gennita Low, Cindy Gerard, and C.E. Murphy.

by Joyce on November 29th, 2007 at 3:23 pm

  24. I do read a lot of ebooks, but I still like to buy my favorite author’s in paper. Some are: Tara Janzen, LKH, Eileen Wilks, Lora Leigh, Elizabeth Lowell, Charlaine Harris, Janet Evanovich, Shannon McKenna, Kim Harrison, Kelley Armstrong and Sherrilyn Kenyon.

by Cathy M on November 29th, 2007 at 4:01 pm

  25. I’ll take a paperback book over any other medium or format. I’ve got a mile high pile of TBR books. My favorite authors for now are Linda Howard, Deidre Knight, Susan Johnson, Karen Robards, Emma Holly, Lora Leigh …

by Sue A. on November 29th, 2007 at 4:39 pm

  26. I enjoy ebooks for their handy dandy access. However, I think I would cry if I had to give up my collection of print books. I enjoy several authors Elizabeth Boyle, Kim Harrison, Emma Holly just to name a few.

by Little Lamb Lost on November 29th, 2007 at 5:10 pm

  27. I love books! When I was younger and spent Saturdays going into downtown Boston with my younger sister, she would make me list the stores I was going to - if all the store had a single book rack, I needed to check it out.

Friends and relatives can’t keep up with wht I’m reading and have decided the easiest thing to do is to give bookstore gift cards so I don’t have to stand in line to exchange a duplicate book.

Like you, once I find an author I like, I buy everything the author has out in print. If it’s part of an ongoing series, I prefer to read them in order. As I will read almost anything, I have a neverending TBR pile. I also love to go back and reread old favorites -just finished The Joy Luck Club - it reminds me of my mother and her friends.

I will be moving to new location soon and have been informed that I really need to go through my book collection and decide what I want to keep. The problem is that I will come across something I haven’t read for a while, and before you know it, I’m reading and not sorting.

by Mary C on November 29th, 2007 at 5:56 pm

  28. I love books…all kinds of books. I am constantly buying more and more stories and when I am in the bookstores, so are many other people. I have many authors I love to read such as Nalini Singh, Lori Foster, Lori Handeland, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan, Vicki Lewis Thompson, Charlaine Harris, Kim Harrison, Susan Grant, Patrice Michelle, J R Ward, MaryJanice Davidson, and on and on and on. I love to read!!! I have so many books at home and if I ever had to move, I don’t know what I would do… scary thought.

by Shari C on November 29th, 2007 at 8:30 pm

  29. Oh, I have more paperbacks than really fit into my small home. I read ebooks, but I don’t think e-readers are ready to take over yet.

I’ve filled my bookshelf and book boxes with works of Sandra Hill, Sherrilyn Kenyon/Kinley MacGregor, Linda Howard, Kelley Armstrong, Jennifer Crusie, Janet Evanovich, Susan Andersen, Laurell K. Hamilton… just to name a few favorites.

So many books, so little shelf space…

by Paula on November 29th, 2007 at 8:35 pm

  30. I prefer ebooks… easy to store and do not take much place and my mom can’t control my reading!

by Nathalie on November 29th, 2007 at 8:44 pm

  31. I still buy paperbacks and my favs are Nora Roberts, Amanda Quick, Gaelen Foley and Lisa Kleypas!

by Lily on November 29th, 2007 at 8:45 pm

  32. I prefer traditional paperbacks. Just something about the feel of the paper and being able to put favorite books on bookshelves. I have gotten more into ebboks into this past year because I like the convenience for traveling. May get even more into it once I have a ebook reader. I still prefer the feel of paper so my must buy authors will be in paper. Some writers that are keeper material would be Nalini Singh, Christine Feehan, Gena Showalter, Jacquelyn Frank, Julie Garwood, Robin Owens, Dee Henderson, etc.

by Cherie J on November 29th, 2007 at 8:48 pm

  33. i still buy paperbacks and collect them. Some of my favs are Lora Leigh, Nalini Singh, Gena Showalter, Jacki Frank, Robin D. Owens, shiloh Walker, Sherilyn Kenyon , and probably many more that I’m probably not remembering right now.

by Pamk on November 29th, 2007 at 8:50 pm

  34. We are definitely a family of printed book readers - no ebooks here! We have bookcases in the family room, the home office, the basement and in all the bedrooms. Every few years we trim some of the books from our collections and donate them to our local library for their fundraising book sales. My favorite romance authors are Carly Phillips, Janelle Denison and Viki Lewis Thompson.

by Linda F on November 29th, 2007 at 8:51 pm

  35. I read ebooks on occasion but i love being able to hold the book in my hand. I love paperbacks. I do not buy hardbacks, I wait until they come out in paper. They are harder to hold in one hand. We love to buy books but are currently on a buying freeze until we buy more bookshelves. We are going to make one whole wall of our living room and one whole wall of our bedroom into a bookshelf, I cannot wait.
As far as favorite romance authors go, I have a lot. Suzanne Brockmann, Lora Leigh, Nalini Singh, Gena Showalter, Lori Foster, Emma holly, Jill Shalvis to name a few.

by Kris on November 29th, 2007 at 10:17 pm

  36. I still love print books best of all. There is just something about holding it and admiring the cover and the crisp new pages…an e-book just can’t compare!
If I absolutely have to have a certain book and the only way I can get it is the e-book format, I’ll buy it. But I prefer print.
I don’t think I can add anything to the favorite authors listed above…they are all my faves, too!

by Angie t on November 29th, 2007 at 10:45 pm

  37. Oh gosh it is definitely paper back books! I am mesmerized by the covers of books since I love art. The more colors the better for me! Then smelling the paper gives me a thrill of discovering of what the pages contain. It is a sense of a thrill and discovery for me to hold a new book in my hands.

I have so many favorite authors, Jill Shalvis, Vicki Lewis Thompson, Gena Showalter, Stevi Mittman, Shana Abe’, J.K. Rowling, etc. There is to many!

I will always find more room to store my books even though I have a ton! How can you get read of any of your favorite authors books? I certainly can’t!

  38. Yes I love paper back books. I collect Cathryn Fox, Shirley Jump, Gena Showalter, Dyanne Davis, Kate Douglas, Vicki Lewis Thompson, Carly Phillips, Alison Kent, Sasha White, Vivi Anna, Myla Jackson, Leslie Kelly, Lori Foster, Kelley St. John, Susan Squires, Brenda Jackson and so many more. 39. I don’t do ebooks,I buy both Hard cover and paperback. I’m like you when I discover a new writer I want to read everything they have written. I did that with Brenda Novak and have read almost all her books and when I read Karen Moning’s book Kiss of the Highlander I was hooked and read her past books and have read all her releases since. You should also check out her new Fever series it’s soooo good. Another newer writer I started reading is Alyssa Day, her Atlantis books are really good. If you like historicals Bertrice Small writes books that mix fact and fiction so well you feel like your reading about real life people in that time frame.

  40. Print books! Nothing beats the feeling when you first open the newest release of one of your favorite authors!! My favorites right now are Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, JR Ward, Lara Adrian, Nora Roberts and my historicals are Jude Deveraux, Judith McNaught, Johanna Lindsey, Gaelen Foley, Jillian Hunter, Nicole Jordan, Julia London, Sabrina Jeffries, Eloisa James and many, many more. I love to find new authors and I want all their books at once! My house is full of books and the rest of my family didn’t read before, but somehow I’ve got them too interested!

by Eva S on November 30th, 2007 at 6:51 am

  41. While I don’t mind ebooks, I’m still a big fan of hands on books so paperbacks are a favorite of mine. I like being able to read where and when I want to which is hard with ebooks. I know they have Ebook readers out there but the price is a little high. Give me sunlight and a paperback anyday.
Favorite authors hmmm. So many great authors and a lot of them already mentioned but here are a few names: Laurell K Hamilton, Kim Harrison, Marjorie M Liu, Kelley Armstrong, Yasmine Galenorn, MaryJanice Davidson, Karen Chance, Keri Arthur, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan, Julie Garwood, Amanda Quick, Catherine Coulter, and yourself of course. I absolutely love your book Where He Belongs.
    Happy Holidays all!

  42. THANK YOU, everyone, for the wonderful feedback and reading suggestions. You’ve named a lot of my favorite authors, but I see some new names I will definitely try out. And thank you April and Ann for the compliments!!! I hope you’ll like my new mini-series, which launches in April with Heart of a Thief. The editors at Silhouette told me today that the series has its own slogan — “The Crusaders: Chasing legends, capturing hearts.” I am so excited about it (can you tell?)!!! In fact, I’m late posting this comment because I have been so excited about the slogan, the back cover copy, etc., that my concentration has been shot all afternoon. But that’s the subject of another blog.

Anyhow, since my dad’s 87th birthday was earlier this week, I let him choose the winner for the gift certificate. He chose #36, so Angie T., that’s you! And I agree withyou. I love the feel and smell of books, too. So Angie, email me (gail@gailbarrett.com) with your email address and we’ll figure out how to do the gift certificate thing.
    THANKS AGAIN, EVERYONE!!!

  44. ebooks????? I canNOT imagine crawling into my comfy big bed and getting all cozy with my 3 beloved dogs to read on a computer!! It’s just not practical OR comfortable. I am going against the grain here. I use to “collect” authors, but now I am reading one of everyone. OK, so I don’t have a long enough life span to read EVERYone, but I am not getting into series reading because I want to experience a variety of authors and I felt like I was missing out by sticking to a few favorites. I imagine that after a while I will return to one that I particularly enjoyed and complete a series, but for the time being, it’s variety for me.

  45. Most definitely, I still purchase paperbacks. Sometimes, I buy a book just by the cover, name and excerpts on the back cover. Authors, of course, do make a difference, but at this time, I am just beginning to discover whom I prefer. Thanks,Cindi

by Cindi Hoppes on December 1st, 2007 at 12:09 pm

  46. I love to read and believe this or not, I can remember when a good paperback was only 25 cents. After reading some of the comments, I can see that i am not the only “collector” of books. I have one bedroom I converted into a library and that doesn’t even have enough shelf space. I try to read as fast as i can. I have one shelf for the books i have saved that i want to re-read and they are signed by the author. Too many favorite authors to name but one of my favorites-Shanna- is signed by Kathleen Woodiwiss.
I have read ebooks but I like to share the good ones with my reading buddies and some of them don’t have computers or if they do they don’t use them much.

by JOYE on December 1st, 2007 at 2:36 pm

  47. Joye - Shanna was the first romance novel I ever read. I LOVED it. It really opened up a whole new world to me. Before that, I’d mostly read the classics, and it was a revelation that there were all these thrilling, sexy, and totally fun books out there (with happy endings!). And how great to have a signed copy. That’s a collector’s item, for sure!!!

by Gail Barrett on December 1st, 2007 at 2:59 pm

  48. I still buy traditional paper books. I always have a book with me either in my purse or in my work bag. At the moment my favourite romance authors are Lauren Willig and Jacqueline Cary. I also just bought a book by Kathryn Caskie, which I’m really enjoying. I read so much that its not always feasible to actually buy all the books I want, so I check a lot of my books out of my local library.

  49. I love to read and hit the library as much as I can! I also buy them. I love Lori Foster, Carly Phillips, Leslie Kelly, and Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I also like to try new authors if the book looks good! And I even love a good paperback mystery too! I read every day and all from paper back books!!! Thanks!

  50. I both read books and ebooks depending If is an author I like I buy it in print if its available but if the original format is ebbok I prefer that format. The good thing about ebooks is that it doesn’t take space that I don’t have so I keep the book forever. favorites authors of series are: Laurell Hamilton, JD Ward, JD Robb, Kelley Armstrong, Patricia Briggs werewolves, Janet Evanovich Catherine Anderson, Lisa Kleypas, LA Banks, Kim Harrison etc. I love vampires, werewolves

  51. We still read books at our house. Our sons were never deprived of books either. We spend a lot of time in book stores. I, unlike you, don’t have room for that many bookcases so…… I have given books to my mother-in-law, taken books to trade at work, given some away to the library, etc… I love having a stack of books to start on. I’m never sure what I will be in the mood for a mystery, romance, feel good - but I always have some on hand to fix that! I enjoy travelling because I get to read then since I don’t have the time to read during my crazy hectic life.

  52. Yes, I’m grateful to have so much room for my books. My big bookcase was a Christmas gift a couple of years ago from my husband. It is for my own books (the ones I’ve written and will write in the future). My goal is to fill it up!!!
I was also lucky that when my husband was active duty military, the government paid for our moves (and even packed for us), so I was able to cart around my books wherever we went. I guess some day I’ll have to give up some of the books, but until then, I am enjoying having them around (even with my dust allergy!). I just love the cozy feeling they give me, the colors, etc. A room without books looks so bare to me.
