I’m a huge romance reader, and I read across subgenres. No surprise there, huh?
I love discovering new authors, and it has recently and belatedly occurred to me that there are many, MANY big-name authors out there whose books I haven’t read.
For instance, Suzanne Brockmann.
Suz Brockmann, I heard. Suz Brockmann, Suz Brockmann. Who is this Suz Brockmann?
Just kidding. I know she’s the hugely popular author of the Navy SEAL series. I could no longer stand not knowing about her books, so today I picked up and started one of her earlier titles, Forbidden. Guess what? I love it so far.
Other big authors I’ve never read, but need to one of these days when I get the time:
Debbie Macomber;
Linda Lael Miller; and
Janet Evanovich.
What about you? Any big names out there you haven’t read yet? Any you intend to read soon? Any recommendations for me? I’m thinning my bookshelves, making room for all the books I hope to receive as Christmas gifts, and I’d love to give a surprise book bundle to a lucky commenter at the end of the day!

LOVE Suz. Just adore her and her books. On my list of Top 5 lifetime favorites.
I’ve only read one book by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Don’t know why cuz I’ve heard she’s got some sports guys, and I love those types of heroes. Jayne Ann Krentz? Amanda Quick? Jayne Castle? Read maybe two or three total. Elizabeth Howell. Stella Cameron. Sandra Brown. Maybe a book or two over the years.
Will I ever pick up one of their books? Not in the immediate future - I have a tbr pile to battle - but never say never.

Never read Linda Lael Miller, Elizabeth Howell, Stella Cameron, or Suzanne Brockman. LOL. As much as I read, I wouldn’t have thought that list would be so long. I guess I should make a trip to the library.

Let’s see, I’ve never read Jude Devereaux, but I did just buy a Christmas anthology that has one of her novellas. I’ll be reading that as soon as I can. I’ve also never read Debbie Macomber or Stephanie Laurens. I have A Stephanie Laurens 2-in-1 book that I found at Books-A-Million though, so I will be reading her soon too. I love reading books by new authors too, so I’m trying to go back and pick up some of the big authors I’ve missed reading.

I haven’t read any books by those three you listed either. I keep hearing about Gena Showalter and Lori Foster, so I’ definitely have to check them out. I would recommend Heather Graham for paranormals. Marliss Melton has a great series about Navy SEALs. JoAnn Ross, Gaelen Foley, Dee Davis, Gayle Wilson, Loretta Chase, Toni Blake and Jenna Petersen are great too.

I’ve read the other authors you listed, but not Suzanne Brockmann.
As far as recommendations go my list would be very similar to what everyone else has listed. I just read THE LAST NOEL by Heather Graham and I thought it was a great thriller-holiday read. I also enjoy Erica Spindler, Annette Blair, JoAnne Fluke and Sarah McCarty.

Lets see, there’s Johanna Lindsey, Bertrice Small, Karen Robards, Norah Hess, Jill Gregory, Kathleen Woodiwiss, Christina Dodd, Diana Gabaldon, Julie Garwood, Hannah Howell, Nora Roberts, Danielle Steel, and I could name several others. These are all good authors, I’ve read some of their books but not all of them, I have several for each author in my TBR pile. You can’t go wrong with any of these authors.

Oh, my goodness! So many recommendations! I should have known never to open up a topic like this–my TBR pile is going to explode!

Oh I have the same as you and they are all in my tbr piles, just waiting - shame on me. For a new one I am going to mention Diana Gabaldon - I have 6 of her Outlander series just waiting to be read and I’ve heard such good things about them!

Wow, I’m impressed with so many recommendations. I came to romance reading late, maybe 5 or 6 years ago, but I’ve read books by all the authors mentioned here. So I can’t say there’s a big name author I haven’t read, except maybe Barbara Cartland. I notice no one has listed her as a must read, however. LOL Let’s see, some of my favorites, in no particular order: Mary Jo Putney, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Maureen McCade, Maggie Osborne, Sarah McCarty, Nora Roberts, Jayne Ann Krentz (in all her incarnations), Catherine Anderson, Lori Foster AND YOU. I have all your books. LOL

I am sure there are many good authors and books out there I have not had a chance to read yet, but although I have heard many great things about Suz Brockmann and Debbie Macomber I have not read any of their novels yet…I don’t really know why, but I have missed all of their wonderful stories so far. I do hope I have the chance to rectify that in the near future.

I recommend Nalini Singh. Her psy-changeling series is awesome. I also recommend Christine Feehan, Jacquelyn Frank, Robin Owens, and Rachel Lee. I would like to try Jeri-Smith Ready who I have been hearing good things about her as well as C.L. Wilson.

I haven’t read Nora Roberts or Deborah Macomber. I have read Janet Evanovich’s romances that she has been re-releasing (I just finished Wife for Hire and it was great. Very funny!!!) but haven’t read any of her Stephanie Plum books. I would have to recommend Janice Maynard and LuAnn McLane. I pick up all their books as soon as they come out. Also, Toni Blake. I have read a couple of hers and will be reading more soon.

My list of some of my friends autobuys is long…
I happen to be a Suzaholic - read lots of Suz including some of her older material although I haven’t read Forbidden yet.
Okay.. I was just looking at the AAR top 100 authors there I haven’t read -
Lisa Kleypas, Diana Gabaldon, Mary Balogh,Julia Quinn, Loretta Chase, Julia Garwood, Elizabeth Hoyt - all authors who made it in the top 25 romance books.
Authors to add to your list.. Alyssa Day/Alesia Holliday, Virginia Kantra, and Catherine Mann all who have been to Suz’s readers weekends before. Wonderful writers. Alyssa’s latest Poseidon Warriors book is even better than its debut novel that came out this spring.
I’ve added Keri Arthur to my list of urban fantasy books with her Riley Jenson series.
So many books so little time.

Coming in a wee bit late after a very, very long day at work.
Wow..I’ve read most of the authors listed in the posts except Suzanne Enoch and Diana Gabaldon. Have you read any of Janelle Denison’s books yet? She’s one of my very favorite authors. Also Shelby Reed and Joey W. Hill. Joey’s books are very emotional with memorable storylines and very erotic. lol Just thought I better post that in case you don’t like that. Lora Leigh’s book are really good, too.

I’m reading Into the Night by Brockmann right now. I like Linda Lael Miller now and then, but don’t have the patience for Macomber or the taste for Evanovich. I don’t have anyone on my I’ve-got-to-get-around-to-her-someday list, but I’m open to suggestion.
-
Wow! All of these recommendations … I’ve got some catching up to do. When I was in high school, I read all the Harlequins they had in the library (and I do mean ‘all’). The only authors that really stood out, that I can remember, were Janet Daily and Carole Mortimer.
I’ve recently have gotten back to reading Romance Novels. Since then, I’ve been reading Beverly Jenkins. If you haven’t read any of her books, she produces on average one every 6-12 months. She writes Western and modern stories.
