In today’s AR Fun, we’d like to give you a heads up about changes we’re making to the TellTale feature of our website come November. Instead of two columns a month in the TellTale area, we’ll be moving the columns over here, to the blog, to be posted on some weekends.
We’d love to have your input on what you think about authors sharing behind the scenes information about their books. Do you enjoy reading them? Can you give us some examples of authors who have fun behind the scene info on their websites?
One person who leaves a comment will win a surprise book from one of our authors plus some fun goodies! The winner will be picked by the end of the weekend.
The winner of the surprise book and goodies was Michele L.! Thanks to everyone for your input!

I not only enjoy reading about behind the scenes information, but I like it when authors travel to new locations they are going to write about and then share their trips with us and photos they have taken. It is a great way to learn about wonderful places to travel and tidbits of information on authors and new books coming.

I just found this site a few days ago so I didn’t know about the Tell Tale feature (having to much fun reading the blogs). I would love to hear about the background/behind the scenes from the authors and since I found this site by googling ‘author blogs’ I think putting them in the blog section would be great!!!

I love hearing about all the extras and behind the story type information. I think integrating the Tell Tale feature with All A-blog would be a great thing.
Gail Barrett has some very cool behind the scenes information about the somkejumpers she researched for her books. Like Laurie, I love Candice Hern’s historical information on her website.

I enjoy reading the tidbits the authors share on their web site as well as on their blogs. I have bought several books and found several new authors I am now reading had it not been for the information authors shared about their books and about other authors they have invited to their blogs. I’m all for it.

I do enjoy reading about things like how the author got an idea about a book or a character. Julia London, Julia Quinn and Eloisa James are several authors whose sites offer behind the scenes happenings and deleted scenes.

I love hearing about behind the scenes info from an author’s book/series.
Candice Hern is a great example; she even has a discussion board for great
conversation about her books, etc.
Behind the Scenes of HEART OF A THIEF is a great site where Gail Barrett shows pictures from her research trip to Spain for the book and she even suggests a book
that would be great to get to read about the culture, etc.

Gosh, I am sorry! I have never read Tell Tale. I enjoy reading behind the scenes stuff! One of my favorite blogs to check out is PlotMonkeys with Carly Phillips, Leslie Kelley, Janelle Dennison, and Julie Leto. They have a wonderful behind the scenes on Saturday with the authors on their books. I will definitely check out your Tell Tale section. That would be great if you incorporated it on the blog section!

I like when authors give a little summary about each character on their site. I remember before I read Julie Leto’s book Dirty Little Secrets, I found her site and it made me want to get the book even more. She had pictures of actresses that she’d have play the character in a movie and tons of little facts about the characters. Here’s the page that I saw that made me want the book. By the way it’s a great book. I loved it.

I’ve never checked out Tell Tale either. I also enjoy reading about behind the scenes stuff. I think the blog is a great place for it. I enjoy the Plotmonkeys’ blog, Soapboxqueens’ blog (with Vicki Lewis Thompson, Jennifer Labrecque & Rhonda Nelson), Jill Shalvis and Donna Kauffman’s blogs too.

I read several author blogs, and I enjoy when they share where ideas come from, actual pictures or tidbits of history that inspired them, etc. Monica McCarty has done this at her site, and I love Lucy Monroe’s blog - she often shares pictures of what her characters look like to her. It’s fun to see what an author uses for creativity purposes.

Linda Conrad has good recipes, Michelle Willingham has links to historical sites. I read more about Hurricane Katrina on the author’s blogs (Larissa Ione, for example) and got more personal information than was on the news. I keep a lot of the author’s websites on my favorites list and read their blogs when I have the time. And I like reading excerpts from their books and, of course, entering their contests. I have a few autographed books and they are on my keeper shelf. Guess you can tell that I read a lot .
