I was just thinking about the brief I received for my book in the fab Niroli series, Expecting his Royal Baby.

My hero, Nico Fierezza was to have ‘Light, honey brown hair…’
Er, sorry? I beg your pardon? My hero is to have light, honey brown hair?
So Nico’s honey brown hair was transmogrified by Yours Truly into ‘Sun bleached, and cut aggressively short…’
Which led me on to thinking of a fun question for our chat today…
I guess we’d all like to change something about ourselves. Mmmm, where do I start?!
So, here’s the question- what would you like to change about yourself, and why?
And we’re not confined to appearance- maybe it’s a question of confidence, or tolerance, or some other ance/ence!
Get to it, ladies, and there will be a lovely gift for one of your comments picked out at random (though inevitably, it will inspire the rest of us in some way…)
Looking forward to chatting with you as I always do,
Yours- flawed, but happy!

Shari and Ayla, hi! Isn’t it great that we can chat here? We can talk easily with each other without feeling self-conscious or shy, and we certainly don’t have to hold our stomach’s in

I wish I had more (or any) willpower. Just about anything else I’m of a mind to change could be accomplished if I wasn’t so easily led astray by temptation…

I wish I would loose my shyness. That is my big problem

Definitely to be more adventurous. I have been careful and never travelled out of my comfort zone. Need a push to change that.

I wish I was taller and had a faster metabolism. It would make it easier to keep the pounds off. These days it seems as if I just look at the food and gain weight. It is so frustrating.

I would love it if I could let unhappy and stressful things and thoughs roll off my back. It’s hard not to dwell on problems, but it takes a while before you can move forward.

Well, besides the usual need to lose weight bit. . . but I’m another shy one here. . . heck, I’m even shy online at times for crying out loud! LOL

I would like to be more outgoing. Since my son is an only child and he will be four soon, I feel like it’s my fault he doesn’t have enough friends to play with because I never got together with other moms. I’m friendly but I just don’t assert myself enough.

Never dwell upon worries and my health concerns. Too much energy wasted on those things and instead focus upon the positive and become more involved with activities.

Oh I don’t think this is a tough question at all. In fact I can think of so many things lol. I guess the first thing should be not to be so critical of myself lol. I’m not very assertive, I have a hard time making up my mind about things, I’m a packrat (that’s a biggy), I worry too much and I spend way too much time on the computer! (I could keep going but I’ll stop when I can - oh yeah, add a little ocd too roflmao).

Wow! We’re all worrying way too much. Thank goodness we can get together here and let off some steam! I’m going to be back tomorrow to choose our winner- and hopefully put a big smile on someone’s face… I guess if I start off listing what I’d like to change about myself I’ll never leave the computer

This is an easy question for me. The thing that I would like to change is the one thing that I can’t change and that is to be taller. It’s tough being short as it makes it difficult to reach things and finding clothes that fit properly.

I would love to be able to not worry so much and let ‘God’ take care; it is possible but it seems impossible with me. Just let the worries flee away and get a happy smile on my face for once.

First off, thank you all so much for joining in here- just by contributing you have helped someone else feel less shy and part of a really great group, and I can’t thank you enough for that.
Believe it or not, I was incredibly shy when I was younger. I had red hair- oops- which everyone teased me about- and ‘tree trunk thighs’ apparently- according to some cruel comments made during one of my first senior school sports lessons.
Did those remarks give me a complex?
You betcha.
Then on one of my first dates as a youngster at the cinema the boy turned to me and said, ‘Do you know you have a real bump on your nose?’
Well, no, actually, I didn’t. But I surely did after that.
I’m certain if we could all get together in a room now we wouldn’t even notice the bump on my nose, or the fact that one of us is short (one of my daughters is tiny- she was always half the size of the other children in her class, but that didn’t stop her playing first team hockey, because I always told her she was great and just had to put in two strides to everyone elses one ;-)) or bigger than the rest- or had red, green or yellow hair. We’d include everyone and not be bitchy or unkind, because I just know that’s the sort of lovely person who comes here to chat.
An older lady helped me get over my shyness by telling me that everyone loves to share and talk about their lives if you just give them that chance- i.e. by asking questions (not too intrusive, of course!) The first question was the hardest! But after that I was able to develop my interest in meeting new people, and now when I enter a room I can’t wait to meet someone new.
Pick out someone who looks a little lost and go up to them and start talking. You’ll be surprised how easy it is- and who knows you might make a great new friend.
Walk tall my friends and both be happy and make someone happy today,
Love from your friend, Susan (who will be back later to choose our lucky winner- so there’s still time to take part)

1)More artistic! Both musically and creatively. I so admire musicians and artists!!
2)Less stubborn! I don’t like to give in.
3)More patience. I get so upset whem I’m driving behind idiot drivers or when my kids /husband aggravate me.
4) My shape!!!!! I’d love nice, long, athletic legs and bigger breasts.
I had to laugh at your “tree trunk thigh” comment because I have no ankles and larger legs due to my German heritage. In college we had an intermural football team and we were called “The Thunder Thighs”!!
5) Stop Procrastinating. I especially like to put off house cleaning.

To be a bit thinner of course - it would certainly good for appearance sake as well as can make me healthier. My hair is thinning, so that would probably be my #1 thing to change. It is a you know what getting older. LOL.

Being short is a fact of life in our entire family. I have always been the shortest woman wherever I go and in school of course it was a definite given. But we always looked youthful and younger than our age due to this height. We are petite and proud of it.
