My First Post at AR

Karen Kelley

Hi Everyone!

This is my first post to Access Romance and I’m still trying to figure everything out. So far, I haven’t had a lot of luck so I’ve asked for help. In case you don’t know me, I’m Karen Kelley and I’m technically challenged. That’s not the only thing that challenges me but that’s probably one of the biggies. I think the tech side of life would be so much easier if things didn’t change every day. Just about the time I learn a program, it’s obsolete.

But I love writing and I have to admit my computer makes things a lot easier. I write for Kensington. This year I’ve had two single titles released: Close Encounters of the Sexy Kind and Double Dating With The Dead. They were a lot of fun to write. They’re both from Brava. I write hot sexy romances with humor. I feel like I should tell a joke right about now. Someone once asked me where my comedy comes from. Beats the heck out of me. I just sit in front of the computer telling myself jokes I’ve never heard before, then I put them in my books.

I’ve also had two anthologies released this year: The Morgue The Merrier (Zebra) and I’m Your Santa (Brava). They were fun books, too.

People think because I write a lot of comedy, then I should be funny all the time. Ha! They should see me when my hormones are all out of whack!

I say stuff that people think is really funny and I have no idea what the heck they’re laughing at. I’ve learned to give them a secretive smile as if to say, yeah, I meant for that to be funny. I didn’t, but if it makes them happy, that’s okay with me.

Of course, I write really sexy books, too. I wonder what they think about that? I swear, someday I’m going to hang a swing from the ceiling and let people just wonder. I’m sure I’ll disclose more deep dark secrets in my next blog.

Y’all have a fun day!

  1. Good luck over here. Sure you will do fine. You do well at Brava blog, just a different site.
Are you going to write any more in the So. Comfort series?

  3. Good Morning!
I have a novella in the I’m Your Santa anthology that just came out. The heroine is Bailey Tanner, sister to Wade Tanner–the hero from Souther Comfort. I don’t have any plans to continue with that series but I try to never say never.

I have a new series that I just started, Close Encounters of the Sexy kind that has been getting great reviews (4 1/2 Top Pick from RT). The second book, Cosmic Sex, is available for pre-order at Amazon and B&N. It’ll be out the end of January. The third in the series, The Bad Girl’s Guide To The Galaxy will be out in July.

Thanks for posting! I have a feeling I’m going to love it here!

  8. Welcome Karen. I just had the pleasure of reading The Morgue the Merrier and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I somehow missed Close Encounters of the Sexy Kind and am hoping I can still get it at my favorite neighborhood bookstore as it sounds like an interesting and exciting story. Thank you for all the enjoyable hours you have given me in the past with your wonderful books and looking forward to many more in the future.

  9. I’m blushing! I’m thrilled some of you have read my books and enjoyed them! This has got to be the coolest job. What’s even better is that I get to meet so many people who share my love of reading romance. I glom them down every chance I get.

  16. I’ve been wanting to join this romance community for a while now so I jazzed about finally getting here.

Typo!? Now I can tell you about typos!

I get e-mails when someone comments so I saw it, Michele. I’m doing fantastic! Karl is remodeling the office so we can move in there together. I’ll still write on my laptop in my private corner of the bedroom, but we’ll work on the business side of writing in there. It’ll make it so much easier than hollering at each other.

We’re still having warm weather here in Texas. Mid eighties in the day time.

Y’all will have to let me know what you think of The Morgue The Merrier. I had so much fun writing my dead Elvis impersonator. Actually, he’d ratehr be called El. He wasn’t a very good impersonator, but he’s so nice no one really wants to spoil it for him.

Okay, I’m off to bed. Thanks so much for making it such a fun day!
