  1. Would love to go to England or Scotland. I read about them so much in the books. It would be great to actually see the places you fall in love with in the stories.

  2. I would love to go to Australia. I would love to see the Sydney Opera House and go to the wild life parks and visit the beautiful beaches.

  3. My favorite destination and ultimate trip would be to travel throughout Italy. To be able to visit all the charming towns and villages as well as the beautiful and historic sights would be like a dream come true. When they are featured in a novel as a locale they impress me greatly and I am enticed.

  4. Hello, so good to see you here. I’m in the desert of Q’Adar right now! Not actually, but in my heart and dreams I’m there with my heroine, Beth Tracey Torrance- who’s getting pretty steamed up right about now!

I love reading all your suggestions and agree with everything so far. You know I’d love to see more of Scotland, Stacy, and it’s not so far away… but like everything else you tend to ignore what’s on your doorstep! Maybe one day I’ll go there.

And hopefully to Australia some time soon- what a dream destination!

Don’t even get me started on Italy. I love the place and haven’t seen nearly enough of it…

  5. Where wouldn’t I want to go? Italy, Australia, England…. But Canada is the one place where I’ll go again and again. And not just because I have relatives there. There are lovely people and there’s so much to see, mountains, animals, cities, tourist traps…

by Minna on May 24th, 2007 at 10:28 am

  6. To be honest I don’t like to travel! I love living here in the mountains and that is enough for me. Besides I can travel simply by reading books like yours!

by Susan on May 24th, 2007 at 10:47 am

  7. Minna, I went to Canada on my honeymoon, and I’ll never forget what a wonderful experience it was… the friendliness of the people, the outstanding scenery- everything better than perfect. My husband was supposed to be attending a series of business meetings, but somehow we managed to miss every one of them ;-)

And Susan, I know just what you mean about the mountains. (Have you posted on my world map on the SS site so I can see where you are?) I go skiing every year and I’m still hopeless at it, but I go skiing just so I can be in the mountains.

And do join my Birthday Babies, otherwise I’ll never remember all your birthdays and you won’t get a card! I think this means you have to visit my *Fun* page- and there are more contest to enter on the site, plus jigsaws on the Australia page that can keep you from doing what you have to do for hours and hours and…

  8. Canada was very nice. I am really not a lover of travel but hear that Hawaii and Italy are wonderful places to visit. Who knows, maybe some day.

by Pat L. on May 24th, 2007 at 12:02 pm

  9. New Zealand is where I want to go most.

But at this very moment, a beach is calling me. I’m thinking Carribean, white sands, no one around (except maybe a hot guy)…

by Jennifer K. on May 24th, 2007 at 12:31 pm

  10. Pat, I’d love to go to Hawaii, it’s just so far away from here

Jennifer, we long to go to NZ here in the Stephens encampment. I have a good friend who has just returned there with her family- to North Island.
Hi Amanda! And Amanda has a great book coming out in August with NAL. entitled, ‘You Had Me At Halo’.

  11. I want to go somewhere totally different and strange and I figure that would be Australia. Winter when it’s summer here. Animals that can’t be found anywhere else.

by Sue A. on May 24th, 2007 at 1:11 pm

  12. I lived in Canada all of my life and enjoyed the beauty and exceptional surroundings. I fell in love with the Rockies many years ago. I am now in the U.S. a special area that is striking and enchanting. But I yearn to see Italy in all its glory. The charm and romance of that special country casts its spell upon me and it is inescapable.

by anne on May 24th, 2007 at 1:25 pm

  13. Great Britain. I would love the history and seeing theplaces where some of my favorite authors lived. Also, hubby owns a Triumph Spitfire, which is a British sports car and would love to go to the parts factories. It is a dream for both of us to go there.

  14. My dream destination would be Hawaii. Love the sand and the beaches. Fun in the sun is what it’s all about!

  15. I would love to go to Ireland.

  16. I’d love to go to Hawaii and see the ocean. Italy’s high on my list too

by Lis on May 24th, 2007 at 3:01 pm

  17. Sue, I feel the same way you do about Australia. I have a photo in my kitchen of my son with his fiancee holding a koala bear, and it’s just so sweet. They brought back some fabulous pictures from Australia and became engaged there on a beach! So romantic.

Anne, how lucky you are to live in two of my favourite countries. You’ll have to let us know where you live now so we can dream a little- or post on my world map in my Fin page, if you prefer!

A Triumph Spitfire is a true classic Cherie, and there are owners’ clubs over here to celerate the marque. Lucky you!

Teresa- you forgot the surfers ;-)

Maureen, I went to Ireland recently to celebrate the launch of Abby Green’s first Presents novel. We had such a great time, and Abby is really lovely.

Lis- Hawaii and Italy… how fabulous is we could just be ‘beamed’ there like Star Trekkies!!

Off to bed now in the IK. Back tomorrow with more chat and to pick out a winner.

  18. There is no back int out of it now - the spare room is already made up and waiting for you and the family!!!!!

I really want to go to America next year - especially New York because it just looks like an amazing city and I love the accents!!!!

  19. I would love to visit Hawaii or Australia!!!!

  20. I would love to go to Hawaii because I have heard that it is beautiful!

by Linda F on May 24th, 2007 at 6:59 pm

  21. My dream vacation is a 3 week traveling tour of Italy. I would love to see the countryside as much as I want to see all of the amazing cities. One day I will go and I will enjoy every minute of it.

by Patty L. on May 24th, 2007 at 7:59 pm

  22. Susan,
I want to see it all! Italy, Ireland, Egypt, England, Scotland, Australia, Japan.
I can’t think of anywhere I’d not like to see.
I love to travel and have never left the US, so maybe one day……

  23. Oh so many places. I’ve traveled some before having kids but it’s been a while now. A cruise anywhere would be nice. Or a trip to Sicilywhere all my ancestors are from. I’ve heard all good things about Australia. Basically there aren’t too many places I wouldn’t go.

by catslady on May 24th, 2007 at 9:01 pm

  24. Welcome to Amanda, whose fab book, You Had Me At halo will be in the US in August!
This is Amanda’s 1st book, so let’s all get behind her and give her a huge cheer and a big hug

Amy, I think you’re dreaming of beaches, am I right?!

Linda, Australia has been a dream destination for me since I read a romance set in the Blue Mountains years back.

I think a three week tour of Italy would be heaven. Each time I’ve been there I’ve had to write a book when I came home!

Angie, let’s win the lottery and do a world tour

And Catslady- I have never been to Sicily, but I can tell you that the new Niroli series for Harlequin Presents is set on an island inspired by Sicily… AndI have a book set there- called Expecting His Royal Baby, it will be a November release.

That’s it- back later with our winner- so there’s still time to post.

    Have a great day everyone!

  25. There are so many great destinations and I enjoyed with the suggestions above. But as for myself, I have two destinations I would love to go to one day.
The first destination is Alaska. As a kid I went and visited my uncle there but I was so young and memories fade. I want to go again, now. I want to go on the hiking expeditions, ride on the dog sleds and even pan for some gold. See the eagles soaring above and look out across the icy water to see an orca breaking the surface. I wasn’t old enough to appreciate what I saw or what I could do before so I want to do all that and more now. A goal in life you might say.
My second destination is Japan. I have heard that in Japan they have a one of a kind beach with a special sand. The sand actually makes music when you walk on it. All my life I’ve wanted to go to that beach, just for a day to hear and feel the sand. Might sound dumb to some people but to me it’s something I would really enjoy.

  26. I’d love to see Ireland & Scotland. I read a lot of books, with stories in those areas I’d love to see them up close.

by Tammy G on May 25th, 2007 at 6:09 am

  27. Susan, I posted on your world map. What a fun site that is!

by Susan on May 25th, 2007 at 7:17 am

  28. I’d love to visit Scotland. It’s so beautiful there and the history is something I love reading about and would love visiting those sights.

by Kimberly L on May 25th, 2007 at 7:40 am

  29. I would love to visit Switzerland; I remember it being so nice from reading Heidi and seeing a show on TV of Heidi. It would be something different.

by RobynL on May 25th, 2007 at 10:08 am

  30. Wow, Scotland ranks highly here, doesn’t it? You know I’d love to write a book with a Scottish setting… wild moors, purple heather and silver mist, with shadowy glens and rugged heroes…

Okay, back to business. April- Alaska. On the top of my wish list so I’m so glad you mentioned it. I dream of cruising the inside passage and seeing majestic ice floes and whales breaking the surface of the steely water.

Tammy, you’re another Ireland and Scotland fan… a true romantic.

And hi, Susan! Great to have you on the world map!

Kimberly, another romantic dreaming of forests and limpid lochs- not to mention the handsome lairds who inhabit them!

Back later with our prize winner!
