A Change in the Weather

Vivi Anna

It finally feels like Spring here in Alberta. I wake up to sunshine and birds tittering at my window. I can actually walk around my house without socks on and I open all the windows to revel in the fresh morning breeze.

I love Spring. It’s my favorite season. It’s also a season of change. In nature, and I find in people. I can feel the change all around me and IN ME. I noticed it when I was down in Houston at the Romantic Times Convention. When I would usually rush to workshops, pen in hand and take a flurry of notes, this time I got virtually nothing from the two I attended. And in the two I taught there wasn’t a big turnout…so maybe other authors are feeling the same way. That workshops just aren’t doing their thing this time. I’m in a different place. It’s not that I don’t think I can improve this and that…but this time around there was just nothing for me. My career is in a weird place and I can feel it big time.

Spring also makes me want to change things about myself. My niece got a new haircut and she looks dynamite. Now I want a new haircut, and lose 20 pounds, and get a entirely new wardrobe. I even feel like dating again. LOL

Most people do a Spring cleaning of their house, removing old clothes, and junk out. I like to do one in myself. It’s time to remove old thinking, and past baggage and start fresh and new. And I’m going to start right now, by going to get that new haircut and color…wish me luck!!

How does the change in the weather affect you? Do you do a big spring cleaning of your house, or yourself?

  1. Vivi,

I actually prefer fall. :) I’m a big fan of changing leaves, cooling temperatures, and that Halloween in the air. It’s my very favorite time of year. :)

  2. I love spring. It always feels like you can make a new beginning if you want to. I am like your niece in that I always get a new haircut for the season, just to get rid of the winter blues. And like you I would love to lose 20 (50) pounds. LOL By the way, Denise I love Halloween, it makes the fall so much better.

  3. Well, as a kid it happened more, but a couple of weeks ago the crazy change of weather made me have an asthma attack. LOL One day it was a cool, rainy 60/70, then it went to the 80s for the weekend, then that Monday it was 89. Alas, the poor lungs couldn’t take it. :)

  4. Finally Alberta gets some sun  Though up here by Edmonton we’re supposed to get more rain/thunderstorms tomorrow and into the wknd. I’m not that big on spring cleaning, though I admit to rearranging the closet. Tank tops and t-shirts move closer to the front and the sweaters get hidden in drawers for a few months.

  5. I love spring, too. I’m so glad I don’t have allergies because to be miserable during my favorite season would be just awful. I love the budding flowers, the ducklings who swim in the pond at work, the sun, wearing sandals, riding in a convertible. The temperature is perfect for all of these things - not too hot, just balmy and refreshing.

I think spring is energizing after the long months of winter - I feel like being outdoors, enjoying life and people more in spring. I also got a bit of a new look so I understand that impulse completely. I want to be in better shape, so I tend to eat healthier during this time so I can wear those midriff-bearing tops.

Vivi, can’t wait to see your new look :)

  6. Vivi,
I love the change in the weather, however, I’m not looking forward to the really hot weather. I live in Texas so it’s sure to be a hot summer. I usually put down new mulch in the flower bed every year and plant new flowers but since I’ve been having muscle spasms in my shoulder blade, I probably will have to forget that. At this time of year, I love reading romances. I even did something I’ve never done before, I had my hair highlighted. It was so great to meet you and Sasha at the RT Convention.

  7. I love summer. Always have. Calgary is the best city by far. Love it.
