About our Contests and Giveaways

And the winner is?

Vivi Anna

I found out that my futuristic INFERNO is a finalist in the 2006 Passionate Plume and I’m really thrilled about that. The winners will be announced at the RWA Nationals PI luncheon in Dallas. Unfortunately, I won’t be in attendance (to hopefully pick up my award!).

I entered a few contests with my book this year. I’m hoping I final is most of them and win at least one. That’s my hope.

But I’m thinking, do these contests ever matter to readers? Do readers even know about them or care? Or is this just for the author? The fact that the judges are fellow authors and some readers, and usually the final judges are booksellers.

Do you think it matters when you visit an author’s website and see award after award listed for a certain book? Does it make you want to read that book, or at least check it out?

**I apologize for the late post…getting ready for RT is sapping all my energy**

  1. Hello Vivi,

To me it doesn’t matter if the author has an award on their sites. I will still read their books if it sounds interesting to me. I do enjoy if they have an award though always nice to see one of my favorite authors with an award :)

  3. From a readers point of view. Actually its great. I mostly love visiting authors sites to see what books they have and to read the excerpts. I love reading those b/c they give you a feel of what the book is about and if you’ll want to read it.
Congrats on your nominations and hope you all win some award. Thanks for writing the books for us to read.

  4. Congratulations Vivi. It’s well deserved.

I do admit, awards don’t mean all that much to me as far as deciding to buy a book or not. If the subject doesn’t interest me, it doesn’t matter how many awards the book has won - I won’t want to read it. The premise is what grabs me and gets my attention.

But I can understand it from an author’s pov - their work has been recognized, whether by their peers or whoever, and that’s gotta feel good. Heck, if I won any type of award, I’d want the world to know *g*
