I just watched the final episode of season 3 of my favorite TV show of all time—Battlestar Galactica. And it was a doozey. It was in fact brilliant and moved me to tears more than once. At one point, I was gripping the arms of my chair while I watched enthralled with what was transpiring on the screen.

I was lost in their world. Completely and utterly consumed by the plot and characters I have come to regard as well people I care about. Now to me, that is brilliant writing and amazing acting. To be able to draw someone in like that. I applaud those who work on that show. Every single one of them.
I had a reader email recently that told me the same thing had happened to her while reading Blood Secrets. She was enthralled with the world I had created. Another reader told me the world I had created was so real she felt like she could jump in a car and drive right to Necropolis, because I had drawn the way in such detail she swore it was real. That’s music to my ears. I know that I did my job, and well.
The best part of my job is creating worlds. I LOVE world building. It is THE BEST part of writing for me. I will spend a lot of time on creating a detailed world that I want to submerse my characters in. I want to be able to feel it, taste it, smell it, and hear it with my own senses. Then and only then do I actually sit down and put words to pages.
That’s probably why I get so many new ideas every day. Each of them begging me to create their worlds. But it’s also my unique way of procrastinating and taking me away from the project I’m supposed to be working on. (Thank you Jordan, for making that clear!!) I just can’t help it though. I love love love to build those special and unique qualities that bring a book to life. That breathes fire and passion into the characters so that they may exist in the fascinating world I made for them.
Do you get lost in different worlds like I do? What books have done that to you lately? What movies or TV shows?
One lucky poster will win a copy of ALLURING TALES: Awaken the Fantasy, which has been getting rave reviews lately, which I’m so thankful for!!

I had to finish because I just received her next book Deadly Game and want to read this one next. I love this series by her and have read every book and will continue to read all the rest. The tv series that I am obsessed with is Lost. Me and my girlfriend get together every Wednesday night to watch. Love this show and you never know what will happen next.

I am reading The Black Dagger Brotherhood novels by J.R. Ward. I am completely enthralled by the world she’s created, her unique take on vampires, and everyone of her characters.

I really got into Dark Protector by Alexis Morgan and another wonderful book is Poison Study by Marie V. Snyder. As far as tv goes, I’ve been hooked on The Dresden Files on the Sci-Fi channel which is based on the books by Jim Butcher. Another good series that just started on tv also is Blood Ties on the Lifetime channel based on the books by Tanya Huff.

I agree with Robin about Stargate SG1, (isn’t it returning soon?), Heroes has me sucked in too, and for book series, I have a lot that pull me into their world and make it hard to leave. Some are: Eve Dallas, Tara Janzen’s Sweet series, Charlaine Harris’ Sookie, all of Sarah McCarty’s, Kelley Armstrong, LKH’s (still enjoy both series), and Lora Leigh’s breeds books.

Please don’t enter me in the contest as I already have “Alluring Tales” and think someone else should get a chance.
Vivi, your story in “AT” was my hands-down favorite! For such a short story, you put more imagination, excitement, passion and emotion than I could have hoped for. I LOVED it. You, girl, are going places. I’ve now upgraded you to auto-buy.

I get lost for a short time often when I’m reading a book. Especially when I’m reading about Roarke or some other hunky hero. I don’t watch a lot of TV and the only show I remember getting lost in was General Hospital. I just couldn’t get enough of Jack Wagner. lol That was a long time ago.

I get lost in different worlds as well. It is why I love fantasy and paranormals as much as I do. One example of a world I got lost in is the world of Lladrana which Robin Owens created in her Summoning series. I am so caught up in what is happening tothe characters in that world. They have become so real to me.

I definitely get lost in any good story both on Tv and especially in books. I see so many great authors mentioned already but I will add my own list anyhow. Some authors that have dazzled me are: Laurell K Hamilton, Charlaine Harris, Kim Harrison, Kelley Armstrong, Jim Butcher, Robin D. Owen’s Heart Series, Kresley Cole, Sherrilyn Kenyon, etc.
Some Tv shows that really grab my attention are: The Dresden Files, Blood Ties, Supernatural, and Jericho. I’ll also probably get hooked on the upcoming Charlaine Harris series on HBO “True Blood”.

Whenever I read a historical romance I get swept away to England or Scotland examples: Eloisa James, Victoria Alexander’s “A Little Bit Wicked”, Elizabeth Lowell’s “Forbidden”, “Untamed” and “Enchanted” all of Lisa Kleypas’s and Karen Hawkins’ books and especially Pamela Clare’s ” Surrender” which brings to mind my favorite movie “Brave Heart”! 1300’s Scotland!!
Old time futuristic favorites I enjoyed were by Jayne Castle…Amarylis, Orchid, Zinnea, Sheild’s Lady.
Finally, I like books that take you back to the days of the Wild Wild West…Carolyn Davidson’s Redemption,Haven, andShannon Drakes’ “No Other” series “Man”, “Woman”, “Love”.
I love anything by Nicole Jordan, Thea Devine,Emma Holly and Cheryl Holt! Your addition to Alluring Tales sounds wonderful too!
