Sandy Blair’s A Thief in a Kilt was one of my faves. I also discovered Deborah Macgillivray through her book, A Restless Knight….I really enjoyed it. And I had never read Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase until last year and I loved it. I really liked Sarah McCarty’s Promise series (new-to-me) as well. As for contemporaries, I loved Heidi Betts’s books, Lucy Monroe’s Mercenary Trilogy (a new-to-me author), Dianne Castell’s series about the O’Fallon brothers (another new-to-me author), and Anything for You by Sarah Mayberry (new-to-me). I also liked Highland Fling by Jennifer LaBrecque. I read quite a few good books last year.

I have to pick one!?!?
*cough* That ain’t happening.
The Black Dagger Brotherhood novels by J. R. Ward only author thus far I’ve found who has counted as “comfort reading” from the start; usually, it’s only rereads that have that feeling to me. So while she’s not a new author by any stretch, she’s new to me and I adore her work.
