If Music Be The Food Of Love…

Susan Stephens

Hello again!

cupid-2.jpg

It’s so good to be here, and with Valentine’s day fresh in our thoughts, here’s the question for today…

What would be your perfect food of love?

choc.jpg

Chocolate’s just one suggestion!!

It can be a whole three course meal, if you like!

My mind always strays onto food somewhere in my books, and in fact I’ll be suggesting a romantic meal with recipes on my ‘Behind The Scenes’ page on www.susanstephens.net for each of my books from now on…

And while my lovers eat they must listen to some sultry, soothing strains, don’t you think?

So, lets have a piece of music to go with all that delicious food…

instruments.jpg

That’s our competition for today, ladies-

1) Our perfect food for love

2) The piece of music we’d most like to hear- or perhaps your favourite instrument playing it- I’ll take either answer for the second part of our contest

Send you entries to Lee at SusanStephensContests@gmail.com and I’ll pick a winner at random over the weekend- but in the meantime, let’s chat!

Looking forward to hearing from you as always,

Susan

  1. Hi Susan,

It’s an interesting topic. A nice dinner with wine and music sounds very romantic.

  2. I think easy-to-prepare and clean up yet also foods that are decadent would work. Chocolate-covered strawberries, wine, cheese, pate’, bread, grapes, slices of fruit such as apples dipped in caramel sauce, chocolate mousse, celery sticks and peanut butter - food you can feed each other LOL.

Btw Susan, I got The Greek’s Bridal Purchase recently and can’t wait to read it.

  3. Creme brulee for dessert. My dh surprised me one night when I came home from aa meeting and he’d found a recipe and was making this for me from scratch. And he’s not a cook by any means. It was a sign of true love.

And in the background we love to hear soft Christmas music or classical, any time of year.

  4. Hi Ladies, just tuning in before I take the dog for a walk and then… do some work (have to say that in case my ed is tuned in too!)

I’m loving this finger food let’s feed each other suggestion- I’ve used it in one or two books and love it each time.

Keep those ideas flowing, and meantime- great to see you here!

  6. If I have to cook for my husband it would have to be fried chicken, with all of the standard southern fixins. As he is getting older I don’t things like that and a meal like that would put him in the mood to romance me. If he is cooking for me, forget it, have him bring in Chinese and have a little Kenny Chesney playing in the background. I think Kenny’s voice is sexy and Chinese is my absolute favorite.

  7. I just finished Bedded by the Desert King. It was such a wonderful read it is going on to my keeper shelf!

Ribs or Chinese food would make my day! As for music any soft rock from the 60’s sounds good to me, which I can’t explain since I was just a baby during that time.:???:

  8. You’re making my mouth water, ladies!
And I just made that mistake we all make some time or other- saw a dress- fell in love with it- bought it- Oh, did I mention they only had it one size down from my size? :???:
Bought it anyway. Now I have to eat lettuce and cucumber forever. Aaaargh!

  11. Smoked oysters, strawberries dipped in chocolate, and champagne in bed.
Soft, smoky blues in the background.
    *sigh*
Where do I sign up???? My life is more like beer and hot wings with counrty/rock on the radio!

  12. I agree with you Susan, chocolate is always a necessity for a romantic night. it’s the food of love.

  13. Oh the most romantic food of love for me is hot fudge drizzled over a brownie with vanilla ice cream! The brownie has to be heated up also. Heaven! Soft jazz music is the best with a glass of white wine, cheese, fruit, gourmet crackers and meats.

Also, I love to be surprised. My husband one time as I came home for work, had packed a supper complete with dessert in the car. He told me to run in and get my swim suit on. I asked him why? He said, “It is a surprise!” So, I ran in lickety-split, in record time, got my suit on, flip-flops, towels, and out the door I ran! He took me to the beach, which is only 5 minutes from our hous,e and we had supper there. We sat with our feet in the water, watching the sun go down. We walked up and down the beach. It was so romantic!

  14. Hi,
    Romantic Food:
About a year after we were married, my husband and I spent a wonderful vacation in the Florida Keyes. There, we discovered/experienced beautiful sunsets and scrumptious stuffed Florida lobster. Subsequently, all of our romantic dinners included candlelight and lobster.

    Romantic music:

I like the sound of an acoustic guitar with or without piano accompaniment.

I made a CD with all our favorite love songs. Here’s a sample:

    For You- John Denver
    True Companion - Marc Cohn
Never Thought that I Could Love- Dan Hill
    So Beautiful- Chris DeBurgh
    Lady in Red-Chris De Burgh
Have I Told You Lately That I Love You- Van Morrison
Nights In White Satin- Moody Blues
I Know You’re Out There Somewhere- Moody Blues
    Kathy’s Song- Simon & Garfunkel
How Can I Tell You That I Love You- Cat Stevens
    Wonderful Tonight-Eric Clapton
    Your Song- Sir Elton John
    For Emily- Simon & Garfunkel
You’re Still the One -Shania Twain
    Rings- Leo Kottke
    Breathe- Faith Hill
    Corrina, Corrina- Leo Kottke
Here Without You- 3 Doors Down
Look into the Sun- Jethro Tull
    Wond’ring Aloud-Jethro Tull

  16. My pick would be shrimp cocktail and then a slice of banana cream cheesecake or Godiva chocolate cheesecake.

by Janet on February 16th, 2007 at 2:16 pm

  17. I would enjoy a beautiful spread of smoked salmon on whole grain bread, a lovely array of cut up fruit, and a delectable mousse. In the background is the soft music of Josh Groban.

  18. This is soooo mouthwatering! Keep those ideas coming and I’ll pick a winner at random tomorrow. Meanwhile, thank you all so much for taking part and sharing your delicious ideas with us

  19. We were supposed to send our entries via e-mail, right? I did and also replied here but with a different answer, not fully answered.

by RobynL on February 17th, 2007 at 12:46 pm

  20. When I think of an ideal food and music evening I love the thought of a delicate meal which consists of a beautifully prepared fish with paella, and vegetables, and for dessert a lemon trifle. Music should be a lovely background of Phantom of the Opera soundrack.

  21. Don’t worry, Robyn, just post your comments here… it’s when I choose the winner that winner needs to contact Lee by e-mail at SusanStephensContests@gmail.com

And while we are on the subject of winners- you ladies give me a harder task picking our winner each time! What fantastic answers. I’m going to print them out now and mull them over- but then I’m going to use the only fair way and ask a member of my family to choose a number at random, just like we’ve done before!
Just don’t ask me to choose between you, because I can’t
