It’s so very cold where I live right now. Yup, cold enough that I am plugging in my car each night, and still praying that it will start the next day. One thing about the cold is that the air is so very crisp and clear, and the night sky is beautiful. So I made a wish.
My wish: I’m not telling, because if I tell you, it won’t come true.
My questions for you are….do you believe in magic?
Do you believe in susperstitions?
Is wishing on a star only magic if/when the wish comes true?
I know this post has nothing to do with writing, but I can’t help it. I’m nosy and I love to know how people think. So those of you that answer my questions in the comments section here will be enterd to win thier choice of any of my eBook Backlist, or a copy of THE COP.
UPDATE: MAUREEN, you win a copy of THE COP!
PLease email me at sasha@sashawhite.net before the end of the weekend to collect your prize.
Thanks everyone for the comments. I loved the answers!

Yes I believe in Magic and wish on stars still.
And I’m superstitous.
And it doesn’t matter if the wish comes true or not the magic is in the wishing

With all the bad things going on in the world, I find that I want to believe in magic. Prancer’s my all time favorite “magic believing” movie!
I’ve taught my 4 children to make a birthday wish after they blow out the candles, to make a wish on a falling star, to believe in themselves and keep on trying even if they don’t feel like they have the chance to succeed and finally, to say an evening prayer thanking and blessing family, friends and God.
As for superstitions..why take the chance? I don’t walk under ladders, or cross paths with a black cat…two easily avoidable things to do. However, I’ve never tried not to walk on a sidewalk crack. I don’t even think about it.
Happy Holidays!

Good morning.
Yes it is magic only if it comes true. And I do believe in magic. I love watching magicians. I am superstitious - if I am watching a ballgame and I am sitting a certain way and good stuff is happening, I wont change my position.

Hello Sasha,
I do believe in good luck charms. I wear a crystal necklace for positive energy and I have another necklace that promotes health and healing. I have little Kokopeli figurines in my house that bring fertility and abundance. I figure, I need all the positive symbols I can find!
I don’t believe much in superstitions, although my husband and I have always had bad things happen to us the week of Friday the 13th. This year, our computer crashed, our washing machine broke and leaked on the ceiling, my husband’s truck broke down, and our gold fish died. All during that week!
I think next year, I’ll stay home during this week and not use any major appliances!
Have a great day.

I think a lot of the magic is in the believing. When you believe anything is possible then you approach everything from a whole different perspective. So, regardless of the outcome, I keep believing.

I am not superstitious. Too many great things happened after me breaking mirrors, stepping under ladders, and having cute black cats cross my path. Am not certain there is magic since have not seen any to my knowledge. I have wished on every falling star I have seen as well as the first star that I see in an evening sky. Several of those wishes have come true and I tenaciously hold onto the possibility that they were granted.

Yes I believe in magic. I watch Chris Angel on A&E. He’s really good. I do believe in superstitions too. Some of them I believe in more than others. When I see a falling star, I make a wish.

I definitely wish upon stars.
I suppose it would depend on what your definition of magic is. As for superstitions, here’s how I see them. I believe all superstitions were based upon some element of fact…even if no one remembers the facts anymore. That’s why superstitions are still around. I’d rather err on the side of caution than ignore them.

Looks like I’m in the minority here. I don’t believe in magic. I’m not superstitious. Just never saw the point.

I don’t believe in magic or superstitions, but there are times that the subconscious plays tricks on oneself. That’s why I can’t watch any HIstory Channel shows on Nostradamus. LOL

I believe in magic. And especially this time of year, in the magic of Christmas. Of kindness, and joy and children’s laughter and smiles, and of family. I think of all these things as magical.

I don’t really believe in magic. I’m sitting on the fence, as they say, on superstitions. I think if you wish on a star and it comes true, then it was meant to be. If not, it wasn’t but the reason isn’t always clear.
hmmm…re-read what I wrote..kind of a little scattered..this is a lot to think about after a long day at work. Whatever will be, will be. lol

No I can’t say I’m a believer. And I don’t consider what magician do as magic, but rather tricks. I believe in karma, and positive energy (luck).

Well, I guess I am a little superstitious. Like the old saying,”Find a penny and pick it up, then all day I have good luck”. I carry it around in my pocket and it seems like I do have better luck. One time though I remember picking up a penny outside of K-Mart here in town, years ago. As I was bending down, someone from behind me going out the door accidentally bumped me and I almost fell down. Then on top of that, it was raining and a car went by and splashed water on me. I laughed afterwards. At the time though I was mad.
I am a Christian so I pray a lot. I don’t really believe in magic, per se’, but like Cathy #19 said, I do believe in the magic of Christmas and all that it holds dear. Magical times with a special friend, my husband, or the wonders of life. That is the magic that makes life memorable.

I’m a tad superstitious
I always knock on wood when I or someone else has said something positive and I don’t want to tempt the fates
