Anyone giving books for Christmas??
I know this is the chicken way of Christmas shopping but you gotta admit, books work!
I’m totally horrid in the shopping department this year…didn’t do Black Friday, or wait in lines or elbow my way to any great sales. The only thing I did do was visit B&N and Amazon. IMO B&N and Amazon are must loves!
Completely stress free. I’m getting to be a big fan of stress-free.
So, I got these awesome pop-up books by Sabuda. I bought them for nieces and nephews. And some NASCAR books for my brother. And a cookbook for my son and his girlfriend plus a gift card to a local restaurant in case the cookbook flops.
Woodworking books for the dh and a decorating book for my daughter who just got a house. Let me tell you, she can really use this book. What is the girl thinking! She could also use a guy in her life right now but there weren’t any books with a hunk attached. Even Amazon has its limits.
So, any books on your Christmas prezie list? I’d love to ad a few more to my stack and it’s great not having to get out of your jimmies to shop!
Hugs, Dianne
PS—while you’re at Amazon, I have a new “short” posted that’s a prequel to my O’Fallon series. Kind of a nice break from all that shopping!

Hey Dianne! I just picked up Josh Bernstein’s “Digging for the Truth”. He’s the host for the t.v. show w/ the same name on the History Channel. He talks about his adventures and his personal experiences with the shoots. If you love history, which I do, it’s a great gift idea. He definitely has a way of telling a story that keeps the reader entertained and informed. I did a little review @ my blog.
It’s a little pricey ($27.50); it’s hardcover. He’s doing a booksigning here in the Chicago area in January, so maybe I’ll get it signed.
I also picked up Phil Keoghan’s “No Opportunity Wasted”, about making a life list of things you’d like to do. He’s the host for “The Amazing Race”. It started me doing things I’ve always wanted to do but kept putting off. The time is now LOL.

Diane,
I love getting and giving books for Christmas. My mother-in-law usually has a list of books that I can only order from Amazon.com. I didn’t go shopping on black Friday either. I don’t think it’s necessary to fight a crowd for some of those sales. I already bought my son his gifts and since all my family live in New Jersey, I just buy gift cards for them. This year I’m asking for The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield and Reading Between the Lines by Rick Hamlin. I just recently bought A Very Merry Christmas by Lori Foster and a few other authors.

Robyn,
I’m sorry to hear about your mom. Losing someone you love is very hard. My grandmother had breast cancer. I’ll have to check out those Chicken Soup books.

Wow, what great books you all suggest.
Just hope I can give them away without reading them first.
And there are great book accessories like booklights for reading in bed and lighted pens for things you think of at night or those little book jacket things that keep your bookcovers from getting messed up.
And there are wonderful bookmarks and coffee/tea cups. And, the boxes of chocolate to go with a good read. Reading stuff is endless!
Robyn, so sorry about your mom. I lost both my parents to cancer too
Hugs,
Dianne

I do a lot of book shopping at Amazon.com. It’s the only way to go at this time of the year.

Yes, I am getting my husband Bernard Cornwall books for Christmas (the Sharpe series). I despise shopping even during the regular year. Nothing could make me go to the malls during the holidays! Amazon is a lifesaver.

I think books are a great idea as gifts. Since tastes vary and I don’t always know what is on someone else’s TBB list, unless I know of a book or two that someone wants I go the route of a bookstore GC and a selection of hot beverage mixes (teas, hot chocolate, apple cider). On my list are books by Paula Quin, Sarah McCarty, Lauren Willig, Sasha White….

I’m getting my niece and nephew books (Dancing Princesses and Magic TreeHouse). I may get one of my sister’s a gift card to a book store… so much easier than trying to figure out what book she’d like to read.
As for me, I only put a couple books on my wish list. I generally like to purchase my own books. But, I am asking for the first couple Harry Potter books in hardcover (I have them in paperback), a couple books by Katie MacAlister (to finish the collection) and … darn it, my mind has spaced out on me. Oh well. My friends and family know it’s best just to give me a giftcard.
