Are You Blog Addicted?

Jaci Burton

Some fun statistics:

Work time spent at blogs unrelated to work
will eat up 1.65% of labor force hours.

U.S. workers this year will waste the
equivalent of 551,000 years (based on a 24-hour day)
or 2.3 million work years (based on a typical nearly
40-hour work week) reading blogs unrelated to the job.

Work time spent reading and posting to blogs this year
(2005) will consume 2.2% of U.S. labor force hours.

Are you blog addicted? Do you read blogs from work?

I do. Of course my ‘work’ is as a writer, so technically I’m not at an office. But yes, I stop every now and then to check out my favorite blogs.

I, Jaci Burton, am a blog addict. I must know what’s going on out there in blog land. I can’t help it. I have to stay in touch with the latest and greatest. Not only my closest friends’ blogs, but also reader blogs, bookseller blogs, agent blogs, author blogs, fun and quirky blogs. Oh yeah, I’ve got it bad. Makes me wonder sometimes how I manage to hit my deadlines (Don’t tell my editors).

So are you blog addicted? And if so, what are some of the favorite blogs you visit daily?

Inquiring, blog addicted sorts like myself wanna know. Just in case I want to pick up a new blog or two to read daily. ;-)

  1. Totally addicted! I have my own, too, which is also pretty addicting. To have an audience where you can talk about yourself LOL.

  11. I visit a few select blogs daily… or at least I try to get there daily. :) I think they were all listed above (Access Romance, Lucy Monroe, Brava Authors, Plotmonkeys, Donna Kauffman).

by Jennifer K. on November 18th, 2006 at 12:11 am

  12. I see some familiar ones there…and some I haven’t visited before. I’ll have to check those out. See, y’all are corrupting me

by Jaci Burton on November 18th, 2006 at 9:29 am

  13. I have 18 blogs in my favorite folder. I visit 10 of them regularly and the rest more sporatically. It seems that I never have enough time to get to them,I wish that I read faster then maybe it would be easier to read them all and have others I visit once in a blue moon, lol.
    A few of my favorites in addition to Access Romance are;
    http://www.writemindedblog.com/
    http://www.plotmonkeys.com
    http://www.bronwynjameson.com/blog/
    http://www.donnakauffman.com/blog/

by Dena on November 18th, 2006 at 3:07 pm

  14. Wow, I visit many of the same blogs but there is a plethora right now. So I only visit occasionally

by Debby on November 18th, 2006 at 11:02 pm

  15. Frankly, I’m appalled. And, I think as American workers we can do better. So, let’s say we lift that 2.3 million work years wasted to 3 million in 2007! Maybe we could unionize…

My blog list grows every damn day. Every time I read or meet a new author. I think I’ve been to about every blog listed here. I add

    http://www.squawkradio.com/

cause they turned me on to blogging about romance. Then there are the blogs I search through daily just trying to find pop culture stuff that relates to romance.

I love blogging, and the e-friends I get to hang with because of it. Does that make me pathetic?

Excellent blog, Jaci! And thanks to everyone who comes to RBtheBlog, too.
