Presents!

Susan Stephens

(Harlequin Signature Select)

The Sultan’s Seduction is my story in this fab Christmas anthology, One Christmas Night, with Jane Porter and Michelle Reid.

Don’t miss Lizzie Palmer’s Night with The Sultan!

And on the subject of nights with the Sultan, let’s talk presents…

Presents… Happy sigh!

Writing is such a pleasure, and in so many ways. For instance, when my hero gives the heroine a gift, he chooses something I’d like for myself- In my dreams, unfortunately, as they say!
But isn’t that what fantasy is all about?

I try to make sure there’s always one special gift per book, and in my Christmas anthology, The Sultan’s Seduction, Lizzie buys a gift- she thinks- for the hero, Kemal Volkan’s ‘niece’.

What Lizzie doesn’t know is that Kemal is buying the fabulous aquamarine jewellery (amongst many other smaller items!!) for Lizzie herself.

aquamarine-ring.jpg

Lucky, Lucky girl.

I adore jewellery, how about you?

Or perhaps there’s something else you’d like to see wrapped up in twinkly paper and finished with a bow?

So, here’s our competition question for today
Please share your dreams with us…
What would your very best fantasy gift be?

Our winner will receive a super prize, so get sharpening those pencils and draw up your list, and then share your topmost dream gift with all your friends here…

Love and happy reading everyone!

And don’t forget to snag yourself a Sultan!
One Christmas Night

  1. I love getting jewelry. It’s something you’ll always have and when you wear it you remember the occasion.

  2. How about a $1,000 gift certificate to Borders and an hour shopping spree there?
Cant thing of anything better except a bigger gift certificate. LOL.

My best gift ever and not materialistically would be health and happiness for my daughter and her new husband. She has some health issues so that would be a great gift.

  3. I love jewelry too. I would like to have a new wedding band. During moving into our home, I broke the band and lost one of the diamonds.

  4. My best gift ever would be to have a large summer home on the SC coast so that I could invite family and friends to come and stay whenever they’d like. It would be a great place to create memories and pass down to my children. I’ve always wanted a family place to pass down through the generations. Something with great character!

  5. If I could get anything… I would like to get a scholarship to some nice language school in Japan and some translation works would also be nice to get.

  6. Fantasy gift, let’s see: a beautiful framed piece of art by Thomas Kinkade. I love his
paintings. He is the ‘painter of light’. They depict hope.

  7. I would love to get a gift envelope with 2 cruise tickets around the world. My dream gift, myself and husband would be able to spend several months, if not at least a year on the cruise. We would be able to see all different places I’ve never seen before. Stop at different ports, take different tours. All the different foods to try. The gifts we bought would have to be shipped home.

    But thats just a dream.

  8. a family reunion cause i never see them and to a desert island

  9. Strictly from a dream gift perpective, a trip to Italy to see where my mom and dad’s ancestors came from would be my wish. My dad came from the area around Sardinia..although he was actually born in the US. And I have always wanted to see Italy…especially the Tuscany area.

by Angie T on November 16th, 2006 at 1:03 pm

  10. A lifetime supply of massages and the time to schedule them whenever I needed one. Jewelry is fun, too.

  11. A fantasy gift would be a new home for my parents…they have lived in the same house for about 30 years and really want a new home. Or a cure for Leukemia…my grandfather was diagnosed with it yesterday.

But since those are more for someone else then myself, I guess I better say what my fantasy gift is for myself…for some reason it is easier to think of gifts for others…hmmm…for myself…besides a lot of books…a Palm PDA so I can read ebooks.

by Jennifer Y. on November 16th, 2006 at 2:30 pm

  12. Two fantasy gifts for me would be a palm pilot for me to be able to read ebooks or a diamond tennis bracelet. I already feel very richly blessed since I had a baby girl on October 10th. Between her, my 3 year old son and wonderful hubby i am a rich woman.

  13. Susan,
I honestly don’t think that I have a fantasy gift in mind. The only thing that makes me happy is spending the holidays with my husband and son and watching my son’s face light up when he opens his presents this year. He just turned three. I really enjoy just giving what I can and helping those less fortunate than myself. I just picked up a copy of Bedded by the Desert King today and am looking forward to reading it.

  14. Dream Gift—-A gift card to Amazon.com for an unlimited supply of books.

by Estella on November 16th, 2006 at 3:57 pm

  15. A space shuttle would be lovely! :)

    Lois

by Lois on November 16th, 2006 at 4:27 pm

  16. I’d love a vacation to somewhere warm. Really don’t care where… just no snow! (Can’t you tell I’m rather cold at the moment? )

by Jennifer K. on November 16th, 2006 at 8:44 pm

  17. I’d love to go on a trip to Greece and it’s surrounding islands…to see where the Greek scholars and politicians lived and ruled. The last Olympics looked so beautiful and fascinating with all the old historical monunents in the background. The history, the culture, the food…I’d love to experience all of it!!

by Laurie on November 17th, 2006 at 7:49 am

  18. My ultimate fantasy gift would be to give my mom her health back. She has been failing in health for 3 years now. First she had both her knees totally replaced. Then, she had 4 diverticulitis attacks where she was hosptialized. Then, she fell and hurt her spine. She has very brittle bones. She had to have surgery where they inject a substance that cements your bones. Now, she has very poor balance so she has to walk with a walker. I drive her everywhere. She has become dependent on me to do everything for her. That would be a great gift for me would be to give my mom her health back.

As for me, I love reading! A gift certificate to Barnes and Noble would make me happy. Little things make me happiest! Like a sunny day, an ice cream cone that doesn’t melt on my hand, a chocolate chip cookie with big chips in it, and my incredible husband giving me a back scratch! That’s my idea of a great gift!

by Michele L. on November 17th, 2006 at 5:03 pm

  19. The best dream gift that I could think of would be a donation large enough to enable me to open a center that offered counseling and other aid to children that have suffered abuse. This is a cause close to my heart, and I would love to be able to help on a wider scale.

Now for an indulgent gift … definitely a book store or amazon certificate in a large sum lol! I’m not that into jewelry, but I do love bath goodies, so that would be good as well.

  20. I would like an anniversary ring, my husband and i could not afford much of a wedding set so we just got wedding bands. So I would love an anniversary band the past present future ring to go with my wedding band. That would be the best gift I could ever recieve!

by vanessa on November 17th, 2006 at 9:06 pm

  21. The practical most doable present; It would be a ebook reader and or jewelry. Any kind would be nice, but if I picked a few I wanted most it would be a tennis bracelet, I have one with diamonque,so one with real diamonds would be great! Also a huge emerald cut Ruby[my birthstone] ring would be at the top of my list.
The unattainable present; Would be good health to me and my sick uncles[1 has luekemia,1 has heart problems,1 has back problems]
The fantasy,Dream present; It would be a trip to Australia and New Zealand where expense was no problem of course.

  23. Thank you ladies for your fantastic comments, and for your patience too.

I haven’t forgotten you!!! I went to London for a few days with my computer only to find the hotel’s wi-fi was down. Now I could tell you I hunted hi and low for an internet cafe, or I could tell you that I knew my friends would wait a couple of days to hear from me. It isn’t often I get any one on one time with my children and this was a long awaited trip with my oldest child.

We really got the chance to talk properly and have fun together, which made it a really valuable time for us.

So, thank you my friends once again for your understanding.

Back later today with our winner.

    Hugs around the world
    Susanxxx

  24. Wow how nice Susan that you were able to spend time with your oldest.

by RobynL on November 19th, 2006 at 11:11 am

  25. Yes, it was wonderful, Robyn. It’s lovely to see my children one on one.

Well, here I am again, and I really think I have the nicest chats with some of the best people around. I’ve smiled, laughed out loud, and sympathised very deeply too, with all your comments. Fantastic. What a welcome home. And congratulations, Cherie, what fantastic news, and thank you so much for sharing it with us.

My winner today is Little Lamb Lost.

    Congratulations, my friend.
(Please contact Lee, at SusanStephensContests@gmail.com to receive your prize)

I think our winner today chimed a particularly resonant chord with me because my daughter has nearly walked my feet off in London, and the thought of someone rubbing them right now is my idea of heaven

Thank you everyone else for joining in. It’s always such a pleasure coming here and chatting with you.
And to all of you who could be in better health, or who are concerned about loved ones, my thoughts are with you.

I’ll be back in December and I’m already looking forward to it.
Chat again with you then, I hope
