*******winners of copies of HELL KAT are…Pat L and Ali! Ladies please email me at vivaciousvivianna@yahoo.ca to claim your prize!!! Thanks to everyone for posting*********

Yeah! This is my first post here at the Access Romance blog. I’m very excited to be part of this very cool community. It’s like getting to play on the playground with all the cool kids!

I’ve recently realized something about myself. And it’s almost painful to admit as I have a fairly rough and tumble reputation. But I can’t hold it in any longer…

I’m in love with LOVE.

That’s right. This author who prefers to write about kick-butt heroines and the dark delicious men to kill for is truly underneath it all…a romantic.

I came to this realization recently after I watched The Lake House. I adored this movie. And I cried like a wee baby. If you haven’t seen this film go out and rent it. I know for some of you you haven’t because Keanu is in it. Well, I have to say I love me some Keanu so this was not a hardship for me. But he is very good in it. And the chemistry between him and Sandra Bullock is electric.

The story goes like this: A lonely doctor (Bullock) who once occupied an unusual lakeside home begins exchanging love letters with its newest resident, a frustrated architect (Reeves). The problem is they live two years apart in time. They must try to unravel the mystery behind their extraordinary romance before it’s too late.

It’s a fabulous story and it made me believe in true love. That it is worth everything to have.

I love stories like these.

What have you seen or read that made you feel that way? That tore out your heart and made you believe that love was worth everything?

Because I’m feeling so lovey…I’m going to give away a couple copies of HELL KAT, my erotic/futuristic. The sequel INFERNO is coming out next month. So post a comment and get your name in a hat for two chances to win Hell Kat.

  1. Welcome, Vivi. Nice to see you over here. I love the version of Pride and Prejudice with Kiera Knightly. It’s a little sappy, but the music is excellent and I love the story. Oh, and The Notebook. It’s a love story but also has some sad parts in it. I don’t think you can get through it without the tears falling down.

  2. Hey Vivi, great post! I also adore romantic stories, and you’re right, “The Lake House” was wonderful. Reminded me why I love romances so much.

“The Notebook” is another one, as is “Pride and Prejudice”, though I prefer the longer version. “East of Eden” with James Dean and Julie Harris always gets to me, because he is so in love with her yet she’s engaged to his brother.

I’m trying to think of something current, but nothing comes to mind. I think we need a good romantic movie out there.

I really enjoyed “Scandal In Spring” by Lisa Kleypas, because Matthew was so in love with Daisy even though she hated him, saw her worth, and just…loved her.

I already have Hell Kat, so I’m just posting for fun :)

  3. Hello Vivi,

I am so glad to see you here with us YaY! Great topic

What have you seen or read that made you feel that way? That tore out your heart and made you believe that love was worth everything? I have seen The Notebook and Just like heaven. Very good movies loved them both. There are so many books I have read that made me feel like love is worth everything also the things my fiance do and say to me as well.

I have been trying to get this book for the longest. The book store I do go to had it one time but I didn’t have the cash on me. Then next time I went they didn’t have it *Sighs* Maybe next time I can try and see if they have it. I hope they do

  5. Welcome to the group.

Also I 2nd Serendipity - my co-worker both read it and I cried and cried.

My choice is Kathleen Korbel - A Rose for Maggie. It sent on my tbr for years before I got to it and was sorry I waited to read it. Tale of heroine with a child with health problems - husband left them and then she meet the hero. I will say no more. It was an older book. And I want to get a copy to put on my keeper shelf and I don’t “keep” many. Also gut wrenching Three Wishes by Barbara Delinsky. And Sarah’s Child by Linda Howard. This book I have read a few times and I have read the ending alone several. It will tear your heart out.

The Notebook was a good read as well as a good movie, loved it. Pride and Prejudice loved the movie there as well. There have been so many romance books I have read I wish they would make movies out of them.
I need to make a list of some of these titles I’ve not read, start me another to buy list.

  9. Hi Vivi! Welcome!
Gosh, I love romantic movies so much. Romantic comedy is really my favorite.
I think “Love Actually” is one of the best movies. And “Bridget Jones’ Diaries”, “Bull Durham”, “For the Love of the Game”, “Two Weeks Notice” and “It Happened One Night” are a few of my favorites.

As far as books, there are many I could name. One that I can read over and over is Linda Howard’s “Son of the Morning.” I know there are so many more, both books and movies, but I am brain-dead this morning!

  10. I’m writing these down ladies…so the next time I need a really good feel good cry I know what to read and to rent.

I loved Serendipity too! I have yet to see The Notebook. I guess I need to read it and rent it. That Nicholas Sparks sure knows how to rip out the heart threads…plus he’s HAWT!

Love Actually is one of my favorite movies too Angie! All the stories were so heart-wrenching. Even between the singer and his manager.

  17. Hi, Vivi :-)
Actually, there have been plenty of books and movies that made me feel that love was worth everything. The last movie I saw that made me feel like that was, like you, The Lake House. That was such a romantic movie and I hated that I had to use the restroom in the middle of it, lol. Actually, the original is a Korean version, and I’d love to see that one, too.
Now, the last book that made me feel like that was the one I recently read, Maya Bank’s Colters’ Woman. Now that was an amazing book that had me glued to every page and had my heart break at the sacrifice they were willing to make for love.

by Ali on October 16th, 2006 at 4:25 pm

  18. I dont get to watch many chick flicks. My hubby has most control of the tv. He likes to watch the horror films and since I’m not into that I don’t watch that many movies. I am pretty gullible I guess though because it doesnt take much for me to believe in true love. Lurlene McDaniel’s books are probably the most heart felt stories that I have read that really showed me love. Her characters are usually teens and preteens who have watched people come and go in their lives while dealing with life threatening conditions like leukemia.

by Billie on October 16th, 2006 at 10:14 pm

  19. I haven’t watched The Lake House either, but have read so many great reviews, I am going to have to go rent it. I agree about Grosse Point Blank. It was totally quirky and hilarious, but all about love and acceptance. A really unique love story that made me cry was Boys on the Side with Whoopee Goldberg.

  20. For books, I loved Elizabeth Lowell’s historicals: “Enchanted”, “Untamed” and “Forbidden”. In Enchanted… a loyal soldier/warrior Simon is ordered to marry Ariane a Norman conquest. He doesn’t believe in love and she fears it as she had been raped. Through their marriage of convenience, they both eventually discover passion, trust and finally love.

Movies: “Somewhere in Time” Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymore fall in love back in time at the beautiful Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.
It’s a Wonderful Life” perfect example how love of wife, family and friends makes you the happiest and richest person in the world.

  21. It’s good to have you here Vivi. I love the movie Untamed Heart and Last of the Mohicans. If I think about them too much I’ll tear up.Another couple movies I really like are Ever After with Drew Barrymore and 6 Days and 7 Nights with Harrison Ford and Anne Heche.I’m looking forward to renting the Lake House, I think Keanu is gorgeous and I have always like Sandra Bullock, she was so cute in While You Were Sleeping.

by Dena on October 17th, 2006 at 11:35 am

  22. Thank you for the recommendation of The Lake House. I have not seen that. There are an endless amount of books that I could list. For movies, The Last of the Mohicans is a good choice. He would do anything for her. Another one would be Pretty Woman. Thanks too for the chance to win.

  23. I love Say Anything. It is such an absolutely normal and believable love story that it can’t help but make you belive in love. Plus the scene with the John Cusack and the boom box…classic.
