Deep in revision territory

Susan Stephens

Where only the brave dare to go.

Blimey, just as well I’m brave then, as I spend a lot of my time there!!!

Okay, Ladies, on a lighter note here’s our fun for today….

Yes, our fun has to start with Shahin who doesn’t need a burning hunk of lovin’ man to put a smile on their face?
And thank you to all the reviewers who have agreed that Shahin fits the bill in that department!

Bedded By The Desert King (Harlequin Presents)

And now for the chance to win a prize, here’s our ’share the awful truth moment’!

What’s on your desk/kitchen table/ night stand???

Here, I’m ashamed to say, is a run down of the litter on my desk- made worse by the fact that my revisions, plus notes for the book I just sent in are all mixed up with the book I’m writing now…

Aaargh! To put it mildly!

Organised, moi?
Er, no.
How about you???

What’s on my desk…?

A music centre and a litter of CD’s. Playing? Johnny Cash, to get me in the mood for writing ‘countryside’ for a Modern X-tra.

A mug of rapidly cooling herb tea

My car keys- in case I lose them – again!

A photo of my mother with insert business cards for my two older children- she’d have been so proud- along with a pic of my youngest child.

Thousands of notes and scraps of paper connected with my current wip.

A Kirby grip (not mine)

A calcium tablet (around a month out of the bottle)

A paperback book explaining the history and showing old photos of the area I have just moved to

My mobile phone (switched off) (sorry kids!)

My land line

The tiny book with a Keith Haring heart (1984) on the front, in which I keep a note of chapters and pages for each book as I go along

A bottle of Ralph Lauren Sport scent- not for me, but to freshen the air when my adorable pooch forgets herself.

My scanner/printer and my computers- all 3 of them- let’s not take any risks here!

And of course, some choc, just in case…

Keep those comments flowing, ladies, I can’t wait for our chat!

Love to all, and happy reading everyone!
Susan

  1. Well I don’t have my own desk since the family shares my desk so I’ll go with the nightstand which is piled high with books and also has moisturizing lotion and an alarm clock and book marks for all those books.

  4. First let me say I am so excited - going to my first post season baseball game - Mets and Dodgers - I am Dodger fan and going with my daughter who is Mets fan. My family is all represented as Yankees are in it and my sil is a Yankee fan and my parents are Yankee and Mets fans.

On my table is a dozen long stem roses, a telephone book, a baseball cap and some snacks packed for the game, a box of bills, a roll, a book and some papers of my husbands, paper cups and a pot cover. What a mess huh?

    Have a great day everyone.

  17. Depends on which desk I want to tell you about.

My first desk (morning job) is really organized. Only has a computer, typewriter (never use it), phone, phone book, couple catalogs, and directories… oh and an adding machine.

My second desk (afternoon job) is a little more messy… I’m working on it. I recently finished a big project and now have the time to get organzied again. This desk has my computer, printer/fax, phone, asnwering machine, some computer disks, several books, calendar, pencil/pen holder, and lots of loose papers.

My home desk is organized clutter. Since I’m at work now, I’m trying to visualize my mess. Let’s see… there is the computer, printer, DSL modem, external hard drive, speakers, Pocket PC, digital camera, lamp, phone, organizer (holds my mail, stamps, etc), lots of computer disks, several computer gaming books, couple notebooks/ journals, my fish bowl (complete with beta fish), bowl of candy corn, bottle of water, one jar of pens, another of pencils, calendar, teddy bear (that I don’t know where to put), a couple books that I need to enter into my computer database, lots of loose papers (mostly things that need to be filed) and a pile of birthday cards.

  18. A stack of books about pregnancy. Considering I am having my baby on October 10th it is my obsession right now.

  19. books light, radio pictures

by KIM H on October 4th, 2006 at 8:24 pm

  20. Susan-I am a bit behind in technology so I haven’t explored all that the ebookreader can do. However, my hubby gave me an Ebookwise and it is wonderful for reading ebooks. I am told that one can adjust the backlighting and size of text to suit one’s eyes (have not tried since it seems to be set just perfectly for me) and since it is about the size of a paperback it is very comfortable if a bit heavy to hold. It frees one from having to sit at a computer and I can now lounge on my sofa or read in bed even through a power cut, of which we have suffered many. Since the machine can hold many books, it is like a library in the palm of your hand. You can also read documents that you upload, etc. I have a strong penchant for print books, but the ease of purchasing and downloading as well as the speed of doing so is wonderful.

by Little Lamb Lost on October 4th, 2006 at 8:29 pm

  21. My desk at work has family pix, computer, files, a holder for pens, clips, etc, a calendar, stationery, rolodex.

by Karen T. on October 4th, 2006 at 9:58 pm

  22. Rolodex, Karen… my computer whizz chum advised me to get one- so it’s back to pen and ink, is it?!

And Little Lamb, thank you for the info… I’ve been wondering whether to try one of these, and it seems to me that like any computer type thingy (yep, I’m with you on the techno stuff too!) they could hold heaps of books, documents and other things you might want to read more easily than you can on a laptop. So you’ve definitely tempted me.

Cherie, I’m so happy for you and will be thinking about you. I got a flashback to that backache of late pregnancy just now. Put your feet up and dream, lady. I’m sure we’re all sending cyber hugs your way.

Kim, I’m guessing you’re snuggled up in bed as you gaze out at a night stand. You definitely have all the essentials to hand!

Jenny K Wow, you have a lot of organising to do, so I think we’ll excuse your home desk any clutter!

Don’t forget to keep those comments coming… we’ll draw a winner completely at random over the weekend.

Love to all, and happy reading everyone!
    Susan
