  1. Right now my favorite romance is Mrs. Drew Plays Her Hand by Carla Kelly. I liked both characters. They both had their own tragedies to deal with but seemed like stronger people because of it. Also, when the book was over it was no problem to imagine this couple being together for many more years.

  2. I don’t have a favorite romance novel. There is no way I could just choose one over the other. I have read too many breath taking stories, it’s not funny. I have laughed & cried thru so many of them.

When it comes to romance books I like them all. Medieval is my favorite by far. I think it’s the time period. I’ve always loved movies in that time period too. When I am reading one of my romance books I just get lost in it, no matter which type of romance it is.

  3. I loved Jamie Denton’s “Some Like It Hot” trilogy., My favorite was the third story “Under Fire”. This was Ben, the oldest brother’s story. He’s watched over his orphaned brothers since he was 12. He’s a firefighter. His firehouse is being investigated by OSHA after the death of a fellow firefighter. Thus he meets independent, sexy Jana. Someone whom he just happened to have an encounter with the past weekend. Both have to deal with their adversion to intimate relationships. I found the book interesting, informative and thought provoking. I felt that Jamie allowed you to really get into Ben and Jana’s minds.

  4. One? There’s just no way to choose ONE! I try to think of one and dozens of names rush to my head…

Why are they my favorites? Because they move me. Because the story, the characters, and, above all, the writing, are so good that I’m pulled deep into that world not to surface until the book is done. Because this happens again during each re-read. Because when the writing is that good and the characters that memorable, is a precious gift.

  5. Gone With The Wind because it was my first!

I don’t think any romance book will ever be as good as that one! It’s a shame Margaret Mitchell didn’t get to write more books. GWTW is a Pulitzer Prize winner and a classic! Who wouldn’t love Rhett! Scarlett needed a good kick!

by Carol on June 25th, 2006 at 9:32 am

  6. I agree with the other ladies; it is so hard to choose but if I had to it would be:
Barbara Delinsky’s Three Wishes. It is a tale of love and redemption and the story has stuck with me over the years. I will never forget it.

by Pat on June 25th, 2006 at 9:49 am

  7. I don’t have a favorite either, but I will name “one” of my favorites.

“Something Wonderful” a historical romance by Judith McNaught. I love it because it is an emotional read - it grabs my attention from the first page, and when Alex saves Jordan, how can you not fall in love with the story? Jordan had a lot of work to do to redeem himself because eventually Alex became disillusioned with Jordan, but oh, he sure does make up for it. I highly recommend it.

  8. My all time favorites is Whitney My Love by Judith McNaught. It’s a page turner and the story that got me hooked on reading romance.

by KimW on June 25th, 2006 at 9:55 am

  9. All of LaVyrle Spencer’s books are wonderful. A few that come to mind are:
Separate Beds, Bittersweet, Morning Glory, The Gambler and her last book Then Came Heaven.

Her characters are so strong and she writes a great story (plot).

by Karen T. on June 25th, 2006 at 10:06 am

  10. Obviously there are many great romances. I mostly enjoy contemporary stories, but my favorites that came to mind were Julie Garwood’s Honor’s Splendour and The Lion’s Lady.

by Joyce on June 25th, 2006 at 10:12 am

  11. Linda Howard - Sarah’s Child - Heroine has loved her best friend’s husband for years. Thru a tragedy they get together and you watch the hero’s love grow for the heroine despite the “obstacle” put before them. I will never forget the last few pages!

by Helen Mac on June 25th, 2006 at 10:18 am

  12. Just ONE?

Egads… that’s hard… maybe Honest Illusions by Nora Roberts. It was one of the first I read by her. Either that one, or the Chesapeake Bay trilogy.

by Shiloh Walker on June 25th, 2006 at 10:38 am

  13. That is a really tough question. I could go name about a million, no kidding.

I agree with Shiloh with Nora’s Chesapeake Bay books; also all her older romances, particulary her Dream Series - characters were very strong and great storylines.

I also loved Mackenzie’s Mountain the best of that series - but all of them were great.

Sherryl Woods series books are great - the older ones and the current ones.

SEP’s Chicago Stars books are full of humor - the first was recommended by a friend.

I better stop now or I will go on and on and on. :D

by Joanne V. on June 25th, 2006 at 10:52 am

  14. Like Tammy, I don’t have a favorite romance novel. There are way too many I like to choose just one.

by Minna on June 25th, 2006 at 11:24 am

  15. Skye O’Malley, by Bertrice Small. That was my first “real” romance novel and it stuck with me. The heroine is amazing, and the story is larger than life!

by JulieS on June 25th, 2006 at 11:28 am

  16. How can I choose just one??
I guess… the “Only” series by Elizabeth Lowell would be at the top. But wow, choosing a single one… it would totally depend on my mood

by Karen on June 25th, 2006 at 11:50 am

  17. Talk about a hard question! After much debate with myself, I chose The Vineyard by Barbara Delinsky. It involves family, heartache, love and everything a romance story requires.

by Susan on June 25th, 2006 at 11:58 am

  18. A Cowboy’s Secret by Anne MacAlister. First I like it because it has a cowboy theme but also it just drew me in and the characters were just so real and believeable to me. I felt like the heroine could be my best friend.

by Cheryl S. on June 25th, 2006 at 1:19 pm

  19. Debbie Macomber is one of my favorites. She writes such warm and tender stories. Her House on Blossom Street and A Good Yarn are 2 of my favorites. I loved the way she weaved her characters together.

by Patty B. on June 25th, 2006 at 1:56 pm

  20. I don’t have just one favorite author of romance. As long as the book has great characters, romance, and some mystery then it is a favorite author to me!!

by Kathleen on June 25th, 2006 at 2:46 pm

  21. I have soooo many favorite authors…but one book that comes to mind is “My Sunshine” by Catherine Anderson!

by Patricia on June 25th, 2006 at 2:48 pm

  22. I could never choose just one romance book to be my favorite. After 50+ years of reading romances, I have read too many that have made laugh and cry to pick just one.

by Estella Kissell on June 25th, 2006 at 3:02 pm

  23. One of my all time favorites is Joan Smith’s Escapade.

by Little Lamb Lost on June 25th, 2006 at 3:25 pm

  24. Oh, the pressure! I really tried, but there are just too many that I love to choose just one. I think I almost developed an aneurysym trying to narrow it down lol. I still could not do it. I love all my keepers.

by Zara on June 25th, 2006 at 4:08 pm

  25. That is an impossible question to answer; almost like asking which child is your favorite. LOL!!!

One book that stands out is A Rose For Maggie by Kathleen Korbel. Maggie is being raised by her mother alone as her father left as he could not cope with having a down’s syndrome child. Such devotion between mother and child is heart-warming. Allison, Maggie’s mom meets Joe who is very interested in becoming part of Maggie and Allison’s family but Allison is afraid to risk her heart and her daughter’s heart. Gut wrenching, you can never forget this story once you read it.

by Helen L. on June 25th, 2006 at 4:15 pm

  26. Either J.D. Robb’s Naked in Death or Kelley Armstrong’s Bitten. Both have strong heroines, swoon-worthy heroes, action, and beautiful romance. For me, it doesn’t get any better.

by Alyssa on June 25th, 2006 at 4:43 pm

  27. I have too many favorite books to name just one. I love every book I read. Some of my favorite authors are Lora Leigh, Karen Rose, Sarah McCarty, Denise A. Agnew, Linda Howard, Heather Graham, and Sasha White.

by Amy S. on June 25th, 2006 at 5:28 pm

  28. this is so hard. i would have to say lori foster, love all her books and leslie kelly, read all her books so far.8)

  29. All time favorite romance novel is ‘Texas Lucky’ by Sandra Brown.
I love the whole Texas Trilogy series (3).

by Robyn on June 25th, 2006 at 7:03 pm

  30. I too loved the Texas Trilogy by Sandra Brown. Sandra’s books were the first romance books I read - Exclusive being the first one - then I had to get my hands on all of them - and I did finally. Exclusive was more of a fiction/mystery with romance in it. Her newer mystery types are wonderful too, but nothing beats her older romances.

by Maria T. on June 25th, 2006 at 7:44 pm

  31. Wow! That’s tough. I guess I would have to pick Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

by Cherie Japp on June 25th, 2006 at 7:59 pm

  32. Gone with the Wind & Pride & Prejudice.
    Both great books.

by Sandra M on June 25th, 2006 at 8:35 pm

  33. That is very difficult! I have way too many favorites! Hmmm….maybe Brighter than the Sun by Julia Quinn (or any of her books)…nice balance of humor and romance and I have read it over a dozen times.

by Jennifer Y. on June 25th, 2006 at 8:40 pm

  34. Oh, too many to choose from. Off the top of my head I can think of three?, Beautiful Dreamer by Elizabeth Lowell, Letters to Kelly by Suzanne Brockmann and Angela Knight’s mageverse books. there are many many others, but that would take too long. There are so many great authors out there and so many great books.

by Kris on June 25th, 2006 at 9:30 pm

  35. Honestly I have so many that are my favorites. I am not sure if I can choose which one is really my favorite. The authors books I have read are really good. There is just to many to choose from:)

    Linda.H.

by Linda on June 26th, 2006 at 3:32 am

  36. I have to agree with Helen L! Too much like choosing a favorite child.
But one that comes to mind is Linda Howard’s “Son of the Morning”. It was one of the time-travel type romance I ever read and it always stuck with me…..

by Angie on June 26th, 2006 at 9:18 am

  37. I can’t really pick a favorite but I can say that I always love Sherrilynn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter novels.

by Crystal B. on June 26th, 2006 at 9:35 am

  38. Probably Brighter Than the Sun by Julia Quinn. Though I have this silly special place for Angel by Johanna Lindsey.

by Nicole on June 26th, 2006 at 10:00 am

  39. I can’t name a favorite. However, I can say why certain romance books are my favorites. They took me to places I’ve been, places that don’t exist and places I want to go to.
