To Do Lists
We all have them. If we don’t write them down, we have them in our head. But how many of us actually complete them?
Not me. I suck at that. Or at least I thought I did.
I write lists every day and I follow them about 35% of them time. I wish I had a better record. Life would should be simpler. My question is….would it be better?
About 15 years ago I saw a show Oprah did, and while I can’t remember exactly what it was about, I do remember it was because of that show that I staretd a Life List. You know, A list of the things you want to do in your lifetime.
The list was supposed to be 50 things and I could only come up with 20. We all have lists, and we all have fantasies. And the only thing keeping most people from living/completeing them, is determination and persaverance. and maybe in some cases…courage.
The reason I’m telling you all about this stuff is because one of those things on my original list of 20 things, is about to come true. It seems that even though I never really thought about being a writer…it was always in the back of my mind, because on that list of things to do is …write a novel.
It was something I just put down but never really thought about. In fact I didn’t even start writing until 4 years ago. 11 years after I wrote that list. And when I did start writing it was with short stories. Then novellas. Then I wrote Gypsy Heart. That was my first novel. And it feel a bit short of the normal word count, (slightly shorter than a category romance) and was ePublished. But in one week, my very first print single title novel will hit bookstores.
BOUND is just the start for me. Even though my list only says write A book, I’ve discovered that I have many more in me.
It’s also sort of funny that I found that ratty list a couple weeks ago when I started my spring cleaning. I’d forgotten about it. (as I often forget about all my lists) Yet, it’s obviously full of things I really wanted, or those goals would’ve changed drastically, and I was truly surprised when I started checking things off.
Things I’ve crossed off my list.
~ Write a novel.
~ Swim with wild Dolphins.
~ Own a home.
Still on my list:
~ Sell a photograph. (as in one that I took, and sell as in profesionally.)
~ Work on a ranch.
~ Learn to play a musical instrament.
So if you were to write a To Do list for the rest of your life…what would some of the things be on it?
