Carnival in Venice…
In The Venetian’s Bed
Years ago when I visited Venice one of my children suffered a devastating asthma attack and had to be rushed to hospital by a high-speed motor launch that travelled along the narrow canals at heart-stopping speed.
Last year I took my daughter back to Venice for her birthday celebration and we both fell in love with the city- thankfully under much less stressful circumstances.
Venice is such a beautiful and unusual place to visit, with its ancient buildings and narrow waterways. I was writing notes in my head before we checked into our hotel. But it wasn’t until we explored the silence of the cobbled back streets where the costumiers and mask makers for the famous carnival in Venice keep their tiny shops that my idea really took shape.
The book opens with a dramatic dash to hospital along the canals mirroring our own experience… except that now I added a delicious Italian doctor called Luca Barbaro. Or Barbaro the Brute, as I came to think of him- Can you guess I like my alphas tough?!
To deal with Luca I created a heroine who’s journey begins long before she runs up against Luca Barbaro. To say sparks will fly is putting it mildly.
My highly sensual carnival scene caused some comment in the editorial department, though I have to admit that part of the book comes straight from my imagination. Let’s just say, I’ll never think of the carnival in Venice in the same way again!
I’d love you to win a copy of this UK July release along with some Susan Stephens goodies, and to enter all you have to do is answer these questions…
1)Can you tell me the name of the heroine in my book, In The Venetian’s Bed?
2) If you could pick any country in the world to set the book where would it be?
Please mail your entries to SusanStephensContests@gmail.com
