  1. This question is harder than I thought. First off, historical heroines are out because I enjoy modern conveniences like indoor plumbing. Secondly, plenty of heroines in contemporary novels have been in some harrowing situations, i.e. people trying to kill or injure them. After rejecting many books I chose Kylie Smith in Let It Ride by Katherine Garbera because she gets the thrill of a Las Vegas casino everyday with a gorgeous guy.

  2. I’d love to be Brittany Evans in Suzanne Brockmann’s “Night Watch”. Britt is a divorced, single mom who adopts a 12 year old emotionally challenged boy. She’s content with her life…doesn’t NEED a man to complete her! Her son is now 19 and her LOVE has changed him into a thoughtful, caring young man who’s going to college and pursuing a baseball career.
Britt has a great sense of humor…she goes on a blind date(set up by her younger sister, Mel and her husband( SEAL- LT. Jones), with another SEAL- Wes Skelly. Even though she’s not looking for love it manages to find her and after first denying the relationship…. she finally opens herself to love.

  3. I enjoy (getting lost) trading places with the heroines in the books I am reading. I don’t have any favorites. I just loose myself in each and every boook I read. When I put the book down it is time to come home to all the modern conveniences I’m glad to have.

  4. I would trade places with any of the heroines in Nora Roberts Dream Series. The women are strong, successful and wind up with wonderful heroes.

Nice promo for Night Watch, Laurie G. You should post it on amazon. If I had not read it, would run out and get a copy.

  5. Tammy took the words out of my mouth.

  6. If I could come back to normal life, I would like to trade places with Ella Farimont in Joan Smith’s book Escapade. She gets invited to an exclusive house party of THE eligible bachelor Duke of the season, she is intelligent though not traditionally beautiful, and she writes a gossip column under a pseudonym…all of those balls and dinner parties are research. Plus the hero falls for the intelligent, fun, gal instead of the options of Blue Blood, Beauty, and the highly Competitive in all things young women.

  7. If I could trade places with a heroine it would be Theodosia Browning in Laura Childs Tea Shop mysteries. I’d love to own a Tea Shop in downtown Charleston. I’d run my tea shop by day and solve mysteries by night.
Or Stephanie Plum in Janet Evanovich’s series. I’d never have a dull day.

by Sandra M. on April 30th, 2006 at 10:30 am

  8. Any heroine from Jayne Ann Krentz’s or Jennifer Crusie’s novels.

by Amy S. on April 30th, 2006 at 10:38 am

  9. Wow that is a really hard question. The are so many heroine that I would love to trade the place with Jenise from Dara Joy’s Mine to take

by Danny on April 30th, 2006 at 11:05 am

  10. This is an almost impossible question to answer!
Maybe Georgeanne Howard in Rachel Gibson’s Simply Irresistible. She’s just such a great character and it’s a book that I just seem to have to read over and over again.

by Susan on April 30th, 2006 at 11:16 am

  11. I would love to be Sage in Sandra Brown’s Texas Trilogy.

by Robyn on April 30th, 2006 at 11:36 am

  12. I’d love to trade places with Eve in the JD Robb series so I can be with Roarke . All the danger she gets in would be worth it just to spend time with him. I know he would save me again and again. haha!

by KimW on April 30th, 2006 at 11:37 am

  13. I would like to be Cherry Harte from Cherry on Top. Not only does she win the lottery but winds up with super sexy Luke Chance.

by Karen T. on April 30th, 2006 at 11:46 am

  14. This IS a toughie. I’m gonna say, out of the books I have read recently, Lilly Masters from Julie Anne Long’s To Love a Thief. Gideon is dreamy, and you can tell they just plain enjoy each other so much. Great book.

by Samantha on April 30th, 2006 at 11:57 am

  15. i would love to be rei in Mia zachary’s book. she was a judge and a strong judge. i dreamed about being a judge. she is also half asian and i am asian too. she is independance and knows what she wants.

by kim h on April 30th, 2006 at 12:01 pm

  16. I agree with Kim W about Eve and Roarke.

by Joyce on April 30th, 2006 at 12:34 pm

  17. Tough question…hmm….maybe Sara Fielding in Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas or Penelope Featherington in Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn. Not sure how I would handle living in the past, but the heroes might make it worthwhile

by Jennifer Y. on April 30th, 2006 at 1:02 pm

  18. Grace Alexander from Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Being the wife to a sex slave/half God has definite perks.

by Jenny on April 30th, 2006 at 2:24 pm

  19. I would love to be Alexandra Scott from Manhunt by by Janet Evanovich. Successful and trying out a new venture in Alaska and your rich neighbor is there at every turn to help you with your very rustic cabin and hardware store. Not to mention he is hunkolicious.

by Helen Mac on April 30th, 2006 at 3:38 pm

  20. It would have to be a contemporary heroine. I like my luxuries too much to live in the past. i would have to agree with Karen. It would be nice to be Cherry Harte from Cherry on Top, except for the hunk. I already married my own hunk. Just winning the money would be great.

by Cherie Japp on April 30th, 2006 at 5:01 pm

  21. I thought about Eve Dallas, but I wouldn’t want to have lived her childhood. I also thought of Sara Fielding but I like my modern conveniences. So I decided that my current fave heroine would be Betsy Taylor from MJD’s Undead series. She’s the Queen, has a hot man (Sinclair) who adores her, can say whatever she wants, lives in a mansion with her mega-millionaire bestest friend Jessica, only needs to drink blood every once in awhile, (gross! though I guess if you’re a vampire instead of being gross it’s very sensual) and has many other vampires who worship her. True she’s got an evil stepmom and other trials and tributations, but it’s what keeps her interesting. What’s not to like? LOL

by Stacy ~ on April 30th, 2006 at 6:01 pm

  22. Another Eve Dallas fan here. Why? One word of course. Roarke.

by Karen Scott on May 1st, 2006 at 9:30 am

  23. This is sooo hard hmm.. I think Gwen Cassidy from Kiss of the Highlander by Karen Marie Moning. I would be living in a castle with the gorgeous wealthy Scottish Laird Drustan. He is madly in love with me and will do anything within his means for me. The best part is although I’m living in Scotland in a castle with an old-fashioned Druid its modern times with all the conviences.

by Dena on May 1st, 2006 at 10:46 am

  24. I have to agree with Tammy. I tend to lose myself in pretty much everything I read. I do have one that stands out though so I would say that i would want to trade places with Riley Jenson of Full Moon Rising by Keri Arthur. My interpretation of Riley is a beautiful young woman who knows how to stand up for what she believes in and doesnt back off until she gets what she wants.

by Billie L. on May 1st, 2006 at 1:13 pm

  25. I have to agree with the others who want to be Eve Dallas! And, of course, the reason is Roarke! I’m reading the series now and I love it!

by Carol on May 1st, 2006 at 1:21 pm

  26. I have to say that I read a lot of cowboy romance books and I tend to believe that I am the cowgirl. I have always wanted to live on a ranch a be a cowgirl myself.
Since I can’t do that in real life right now I have the pleasure of imagining that I am the cowgirl that I want to be.
