Ask anyone who knows me personally, and they’ll tell you I’m not the outdoorsy-woodsy kind of girl. I consider staying in a hotel that doesn’t have a restaurant “roughing it” and consider a walk through a patch of trees in a city park “a hike in the woods.” My dear, patient father tried his best to put me in touch with my country-girl side. He taught me how to cast a fishing line…and he tried teaching me some other stuff, but I can’t say I fully grasped those concepts. But I will say I did learn an appreciation for genius in nature.
Squirrels aren’t the largest or most majestic of God’s creatures. They’re little. They’re everywhere, and when they’ve taken up residence in our attics or sheds, they are a real nuisance. But…but they’re so smart!
Squirrels are hoarders. They go about the land picking up little morsels of food and packing them away in cozy little dens for later consumption.
Remind you of anyone?
I work in a bookstore. One of the most common comments I hear as I’m ringing up a sale is, “I have a bunch of books at home I haven’t read yet, but I just had to have this one.” But I say there’s nothing wrong with that. If it’s good enough for the squirrels, it’s good enough for me. I’m embracing my squirrelness. My book collection is growing by the day and I’m not ashamed. Every night, I snatch up one of those morsels and settle in for an hour or two of pleasure. The “nuts” in my stash include, “Dead Until Dark,” by Charlaine Harris; Kay Hooper’s “Hunting Fear” and J.D. Robb’s “Origin in Death.”
Have you embraced your squirrelness? What’s in your stash?
I’ll randomly draw one responder to receive a download of my March Ellora’s Cave release, Spells and Seduction.
UPDATE: Congratulations Pat! You’ve won another “nut” for your stash

I’d take up PAGES if I listed my stash. I have hundreds of books I haven’t read yet, but I still have to buy more books. It’s like if I dont get them now, when I do want them, they won’t be there. And I like choices.
Just a few that are on my desk:
Hell Kat by Vivi Anna
Champagne Rules by Susan Lyons
Body Heat by Katherine Garbera
Don’t Look Down by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer
Charmed to Death by Shirley Damsgaard
Afternoon Delight by Mia Zachary
Dates from Hell anthology
The Aktarian Chronicles by B.J. McCall
and lots more.

My TBR pile consists of shelves of books. If I named them all I would be here for hours so I will name a small portion of them. On my pile are:
The Runaway Daughter by Anna DeStefano
Poison Study by Maria v. Snyder
In Stone’s Clasp by Christie Golden
Cast in Shadow by Michelle Sagara
Birthright by Nora Roberts
The Whitney Chronicles by Judy Baer
Circle of Grace by Penelope Stokes
The Pleasure Trip by Joanne Rock
Reason and Romance by Deborah White Smith
The scary thing is I am constantly adding to my pile. It is out of control. I also have a terrible habit of reading new releases right away because I just can’t wait instead of reading something from the pile like I should. Like you, every night I try reading one of these tasty morsels. It is my reward at the end of the day.

Mount TBR…won’ reach the top anytime soon, but I’m steadily climbing.
I have a 5 shelf bookcase double stacked and tumbling out on to the floor beside my bed. Books in the bathroom for easy tub access. Books in my car just in case I get caught in traffic. Books at work for lunch time reading. And usually two in my purse. It’s my OCD showing.
Next up for me is Wedding Survivor by Julia London or maybe Pamela Clare’s Surrender.

Waving “hi” Tawny! Oh, I am like a squirrel. Lots of nuts stashed in my house. haha! I find myself runing to the store or heading over to one of the ebook stores to buy the latest release for fear I’ll miss it when I have lots of books to read at home. Do squirrels mix their nuts cause that’s what I do. haha! I’m planning on reading After Hours by Jodi Lynn Copeland next and then I can’t decide. It’s between The Way You Look Tonight by Dianne Castell or Risk Everthing by Sophia Johnson.
