Hey everyone! Before I talk about a new concept I discovered, Peace and Quiet
I wanted to say that this week I had a new release out at Ellora’s Cave!!! It’s called SHADOWS AND RUINS and is another novel in my popular Special Investigations Agency series. Now, on with my comments about my newly discovered concept.
Peace & Quiet
Many writers have rituals they perform before they start writing, when they end writing for the day, when they start a new book or finish a new book. I’ve decided my new ritual has more to do with grasping onto the peace inside and giving myself a gift every week. You could say I’ve had an epiphany that tells me what I need to have to survive a pretty rigorous writing schedule that includes promotion, on line time, answering emails, etc. Yep, I’ve taken my calendar and carved out every single Friday. There’s a big slash across Fridays and it says P&Q on it.
Peace and Quiet.
Sounds like a relatively easy thing to acquire, especially for an author who doesn’t have children running around demanding her attention and has all day to write…for the most part. I also don’t write on the weekends unless I’m inspired. I look at my writing life as an eight hour a day job that lasts five days a week. On the weekends peace and quiet might come, but my hubby is at home and we are usually doing things together.
So Friday is for sitting in that nice leather chair in the living room with the great ottoman and reading books and magazines. For hours if I wish. Not writing. Not working on promotion. Not thinking about plunging into the next scene, the next novel. And that peace will wrap around me like a soft blanket, a comfort and relaxation that I can enjoy every week.
What do you do to find special peace and renew?

When everyone is home our house is noisy. So when I have the house to myself I turn off everything and it becomes peaceful just from a lack of constant noise. This is a great time to sit down with a good book and read without interruptions.

Good for you setting special time aside for yourself and your hubby.
Nothing relaxes me as to sit on the couch with a good book of course. If it is cold aside - I sit under a warm blanket and a cup of hot chocolate.

Hi Denise,
I find a quiet corner in my room and read, while I am listing to some music.

I sit in the big comfy recliner in our living room with my puppy beside me and put a radio station on from the satellite that plays nature music, close my eyes and relax.

Thank you ladies, for all your great replies! The cup of hot chocolate sounds great, Pat. And Kim, I never thought of relaxing in my car, although I know a lot of people do find that as a place of escape. And what is better than having a puppy to hold and pet to relax. Lovely!!

Pat,
Meant To Be is in ebook format only at this time. :) It should be in print probably within six months to a year. :) Their may be some paperbacks available fromt he original publisher Hard Shell Word Factory http://www.hardshell.com It was originally titled Best Of Buddies at Hard Shell.
I recommend, though, that you get the paperback of MEANT TO BE when it comes out because I did revise it and improve the title. Thank you so much for asking!
