Spring is the time for flowers, cherry blossoms, warmer weather and…books? Yeah, that’s right - books!
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know publishers actually release books all year long. Each and every month boxes arrive at bookstores. Faithful employees then rush the books (sometimes this feels more like “take their sweet ‘ole time”) by the stack, cart and armload to the shelves. A good number of those books (my husband would say far too many) eventually arrive on my doorstep via online stores and, in those instances where I manage to overcome my laziness, via my car.
So why is this time of year different from every other? Well, maybe it’s my warped perception, but spring seems to be a time when those books I’ve been waiting on for months finally get released. You know those books. They’re the ones people talk about on message boards. They’re the ones you track at online bookstores and pre-order, even though you wonder if you can run out and buy it faster than the USPS can deliver it to your door. They’re the ones where you read an author’s last book and wait for months for the follow-up - all the time wondering why the author can’t just sleep a little less and write a little faster. They’re your “must have” books. They’re the ones you buy in hardcover even though trying to balance a hardcover while putting on suntan lotion at the beach or by the pool is, well, an impossible acrobatic feat. They’re the ones you buy in trade paperback even though you’re philosophically opposed to buying $14.00 softcover books. They’re the ones that make you happy you invested in that frequent book buyer card.
We all have ‘em. My list is pages long. A few of my spring selections are:
-Passion, Betrayal and Killer Highlights by Kyra Davis
-Deep Breath by Alison Kent
-Manolo Matrix by Julie Kenner - yeah, this is a February release, but I plan to read it in March. That counts.
-Don’t Look Down by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer - Come on, who isn’t waiting on this one??
There are lots more, but I want to know yours because, really, my list can always use a few more. Since I hope to be a future auto-buy for people, I’m going to provide an incentive: post here and I’ll randomly pick a commenter on Monday (March 6th) to win an early copy of When Good Things Happen To Bad Boys a Brava anthology April ‘06 release featuring Lori Foster, Erin McCarthy and yours truly.

Oh I meant Allison Brennan’s The Kill earlier. I got a signed copy of The Hunt before that, and The Prey before that too. LOL!
I’ve Parallel Attraction on my wish list too.
Don’t move Kathy. It’s really hot here, and when it’s not, it’s raining. And sometimes, you’ll have to wait a good 6 weeks for books to get to you. On the upside, you can sometimes get the better UK covers.
Like for Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark-Hunter books, I’ve seen both the Piatkus and St. Martin’s editions.

Look at all those choices! I’m not sure which is more interesting - the number of books that show up again and again OR the ones I haven’t heard about before that now have me intrigued. I certainly loved seeing mine on a few lists. Thanks for that! And…it looks as if I’m not the only one who liked the cover of Katherine Garbera’s BODY HEAT
I’ll pick a winner Monday!
