Today’s post is about fun and prizes, so let’s play a game! It goes like this:
1. Take five random novels from your bookshelf.
2. Book 1—find the first sentence
3. Book 2—find the last sentence on page 50
4. Book 3—find the second sentence on page 100
5. Book 4—find the next to the last sentence on page 150
6. Book 5—find the final sentence of the book
7. Make the five sentences into a paragraph.
8. Feel free to “cheat” to make it a better paragraph.
9. Post to your paragraph in a comment. Don’t forget to mention which books you used!
Tomorrow we will draw one winner from among those who commented of surprise book from one of our authors plus an AR goodie!
Update: Congrats to Marilyn, the winner of the giveaway, and thanks to everyone who played!

A thin line of nervous perspiration trickled between Liz Marsh’s breasts and into the black lace of her bra as she stood outside the slightly battered Royal Street door. “I should be auditioning for you, not the other way around”. “It wouldn’t be productive. And you’re tired, Liz. Why don’t you sit down”. And finally her previously spoken words pierced his mind. “Gross,” he said. And then he grinned as Liz gave him a playful punch in the shoulder.

:!: I’m not entering the contest.
It’s a whole lot of fun, actually, if only I was actually awake enough to put something together, so I’m just going to copy the one I already did. :)
The Dark Council reconvened. In all, this cheerful, peaceful feminine atmosphere was about as far from a Roknari galley rower’s bench as it was possible for Cazaril to imagine, and he had to swallow a lump of delirious joy at the contrast as he ducked his head under the lintel and stepped inside. “They have nothing to do with this.” She’d told him that when when she reported on the increased scope of the investigation. He walked away and kept on walking.

“Sex is out.” Still recovering from her less-than-graceful entrance, Lucy forced a smile and nodded. She sighed and swallowed hard, as if she were eating some of the burned green beans his uncle had fixed as part of last week’s healthy food kick. “Didn’t expect you to get all racey on the first lap.” And all because she held a sexy man at gunpoint and ordered him to strip.

He needed a woman. His gaze returned to Honoria, and she wanted to scream. How had he not known how erotic a woman’s hair could be? She took off her apron and hung it on a peg by the door. “I love you too.”

Nobody ever tried to stab me when I did corporate work. Nick had vanished. But when Sebastian had turned into a completely worthless, dissolute, immoral scoundrel, Haversham had quickly put distance between them. And finally her words pierced his mind. And she did.
Argh, I’m not sure I can make this into a better paragraph!

Here goes….
Darcy Wilkins skidded into my office Monday morning and closed the door. “It’s like they dropped off the face of the earth.” Hud could have bailed him out, could have pretended he hadn’t heard a word, but he didn’t. “Let’s Hope not, baby. Let’s hope not.” “There’s police cars, and somebody said she’s dead.”

I’ll give it a try:
Never one to be smitten by floral scents, I must admit that the magnolias and honeysuckles that surround the palatial Adams estate have intoxicated me. Jessica put down her glass and crossed her arms. Please report to your supervisor. She was thirsty too. Patrick Culley and his mother are doing well, and the proud new da is expected to make a full recovery.

Here goes:
“I need you Alli!” Sorry, I lost you for a minute. She didn’t hear anything for a long moment, only the pounding of her heart and the deep breathes she inhaled to try to calm herself. Her fingers sifted through his thick, dark hair, their tongues met and her entire body seemed to breathe out the word_finally_ with a long sigh of pleasure. Her father had always told her practice made perfect.

To Shandi Fossey, the sky was the limit. The innocence of her lips, so tender,
so soft, told him to tread lightly. “And you want me. It’s as simple and elemental
as that.” “Try it.” If you don’t all marry, the money will be sent to Women United,
a charity where other unwed mothers can benefit from the money.”

Advertising executive extraordinaire, Prada shopaholic, and all-around tough as steel LA Mia Appleby could put spin on anything, but waking up in the bed of a man when she’d only meant to admire his motorcycle wasn’t one of those things. But any mention of the ex brother n law who had butchered her sister put maddie on alert. I don’t think the subject here should be my outfit. This is one of them. He drew her into a kiss that celabrated their promise and spoke of forever.

Uh-oh, the tall, raven-haired god circling Jill Davidson already knew she was an imposter. How has she put up with [men] all these years? What? she asked, surprised by the intensity of his reaction. Her knees felt weak, and she would have sagged to the ground had it not been for [his] rigid body supporting her. Not now with [him] watching [her]back.

“Where is it? You said it was going to be here.” His fists rested on his hips and he looked angry and frustrated and somehow heartsick. “We’re in this together, Cal.” She shot him a saucy wink that revved his pulse into the danger zone. “Always,” he whispered fiercely, his arms banding tightly around her as he lifted her up. “Always.”
